I have to admit, this was hopefully getting better through aeration, so I upgraded the mark a bit along the tasting, when I was first a bit disappointed !
Day one, which was Sep 18, through Coravin, the wine was ok, showing buttery and a bit limp ... but day two showed what the wine had in its guts !
Lots of toffee, and salty caramel, then with air, complex nose of bee wax, ripe apple and pear... buttery but not fat, more like a brioche, croissant... viennoiserie !
Firstly a little limp, it gained depth and acidity along the tasting showing how intense that area can get, and how powerful the Corton Terroir grows both in bottle and in glass ! It was long, powerful yet balanced and still gaining zingy tartness along the evening ! The Charmes 2011 felt oxidized next to that monster Chardonnay !
What a tremendous wine in a so called warm vintage, I felt like I d be disappointed ! One left in the cellar, and I feel like not touching the younger ones ! so glad I opened it

10th of 12, decanted 45 minutes, perfect cork and level, even better as it approaches proper maturity is exchanging puppy fat for concentration, fruit intensity and steel, upside, 15+ years. VF (18.5)......I broached these too soon as this is showing ageworthiness of BdM!

9th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, another beautiful bottle, maybe slightly tighter and more mineral (a good thing) as it loses the last of its puppy fat, consistent so far, upside, 10+ years. F+ (18).

5th of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, yellower, fatter, only just enough citrus to cut through, good volume, not quite enough steel, no rush. F+ (18).

4th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, au fond as May bottle, just a sense of broadening unhelpfully and kicking up a gear in evolution, youthful robe though. F+ (18)..........needs watching as white Burgs are capable of going from hero to zero in an evolutionary blink of an eye, cf my Lafon Perrieres 06!

3rd of 12, opened 90 minutes, perfect cork and level, big step up on last year's bottle, tighter, more zip and zest, even some steel, former sweetish palate now properly dry but with inherent richness of vintage, early maturity with scope to improve yet. F+ (18).…..interesting comparison with excellent BdM 2000 on same night.

2nd of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, tighter, better and with more pronounced citric zip than last November's bottle, slightly too sweet mid palate typical of 09 and could do with showing greater minerality and steel, still early days! At least F (17.5).

From magnum. All petrol initially but thankfully this blows off. Nice fruit (especially citrus with hints of lime) and becomes buttery; both in aromas and in texture. Some lovely butterscotch also develops. Much better with air and fills out with time. A nice wine with a long future ahead. This kept well over three days and hardly budged. Impressive

1st of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - very much as my note on a restaurant magnum two years ago, still showing youthful puppy fat, slightly too broad and floral, though with nice apple component, fresh, would expect to tighten and show more mineral and thankfully no hint of POX or the blowsiness of some 09s. At least F (17.5).

Terrific from magnum. No hint of premox. Lovely lime cordial straw colour, evolves in glass and warrants a proper burg glass. More mineral than butter. Will go further and could get better. Has certainly come on in past 2 years. Proper Corton.

This wine has significantly improved since I last had it. The nose is very buttery/nutty and evokes Meursault. Ripe to very ripe fruit aromas. The rich material inside is balanced by a great, sharp and clean acidity and the aromatic profile has blended harmoniously to give a rich, almost exuberant wine, but with all of its components falling in the right place it is a pure joy to drink.

Magnum and 12 bottles, perfect level, magnum pnp - leggy light yellow; attractive bouquet, more floral as yet than mineral, quite honeyed/rich for CC; medium full, waxy, very long and persistent, bit simple and not quite the usual lemon cut and steely minerality of CC, may develop with more maturity which would help combat the richness of the vintage. Should improve from current F (17.5).

Very hard for me to understand. Anything like all the C-C I had so far (including some from Rapet, and this 2009 at a very young stage). Very sweet, soft, very oaked and creamy C-C with a lot of butterscotch and hardly any trace of typical C-C seriousness. Fruit was pretty flat and exoticl, however rather good volume, fair complexitiy and a bit too much alc. For me this one had nothing to do with a Corton-Charlemagne. Unfortunately, because I used to be fan of Rapet whites.

Very nice nose of grany smith, citrus, minerality... very sappy citrus, mineral, long yellow and green apple, very long aftertaste... great white Burgundy!

Alcohol :: Light golden. Smoky note accompany by toasted nuttiness, lemon custard and earthiness. With time, some herbs emerged. Medium - full bodied. This is showing very nicely with all the umami, complex saline minerality note. It is more smoky and toasted on the palate which I believe should be coming from the oak barrel. The mid palate is getting deeper and richer, rounded up with silky, layer mouth feel, with excellent purity and finesse. Long and seductively persistent. 92-93+

Young and not showing much at this stage, the wine has an abundant material of very high quality and should become even more rewarding with some bottle age. Power of this wine is impressive.

Burgundy Tuesday--21 juin 2011: Softer and creamier but with the same austere hand. Really love this one. Big Charlemagne shoulders. Lemon curd, toast, a little pineapple. Great acidity. Incredible now—how about in 5 years?

Bordeaux 1985 as main theme (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): Just limited notes. The wine is still locked and very youthful. There are tropical fruits like pineapple, good fresh citrus and well dosed luxurious oak. Beautiful wine. Hope to taste again. 92+
