  • About 3 years ago this was drinking well. Not exceptional, but enjoyable. No longer. Cherry notes on the nose but also a green note. Sour cherry fruit on the palate. Bit hot (14.5% ABV). Sharp tannins, harsh acidity. Finishes long but indifferent. Not bad, just not good.

  • I remember not being overly impressed by this wine on release or even after a couple of years in the cellar. But tonight it was really singing. Dark red in color with very slight fading at the edges. The nose is dark fruits and a lovely scent of warm spice. The fruit is rich and smooth, blackberries, blueberries and cracked black pepper. Firm tannins, good acidity and balance. Finishes moderately long and peppery. Drinking really well right now and, I'd guess, for 2 or 3 years out.

  • This came out late night, so this is probably more broad strokes. Clearly new world and more fruit driven, but nicely counterbalanced by smoke, pepper and gamy notes. The tannins a totally integrated, but there is still a fair degree of acidity to keep it lively. Probably at peak, but it has the stuffing to last for several more years.

  • We're still really enjoying the 2007 Purisima - all syrah baby! This vino has backbone, and although it's drinking nicely now I'm determined to hold at least one to see how it evolves. Stems up!

  • This is just an outstanding example of California Syrah; concentrated, rich and powerful in taste yet still elegant, complex and nicely textured. Somewhat floral on the nose with lots of berry fruit and spice with a wonderful long finish. Seven bottles left and although I'd love to watch them mature I am going to have a hard time not drinking these sooner rather than later.

  • Just popped and poured after chilling - deep, dark syrah in the glass, incredibly smooth right out of the bottle with a full mouthfeel and some tannins. Very, very nice! Stems up!

  • Interesting purple color, soft nose, and incredibly smooth on the palate! Popped and poured - the Purisma is soooo ready to drink. It is smooooooth with lots of fruit and absolutely no bitterness. Wow! Blair Fox is amazing! The Thompson vineyard I want to hold, but the Purmisma - geez, how will I be able to hold some to compare?

  • The wine looks Purple colored. Blueberry and dark fruit Aromas. Blueberry, Blackberry pie with hints of Plum. Good acidity! Medium bodied and Bice finish.
