After a huge disappointment with another bottle of this last week, had to try my last bottle and what a huge difference! Went back and amended that note to remove score and call it flawed. Shared with Xavier94, see his note.

Golden color; lots of bubble still with a butterscotch, baked apple and a load of brown spices. More citrus influence in the mouth initially and acidity comes through a bit shrill, though with air time, the wine widens out considerably. Lots of distinction and sweetness/ripeness of fruit as this beauty opens up. Guessed this to be a vintage from the 90s, though. Not sure about the aging curve going forward?

This was a big disappointment. Pale golden color; nose shows age (tasting partner guessed it from the ‘90s), ginger, and golden apple; ample carbonation and acidity yet seemed very one-dimensional (no breadiness, no layering or complexity described by others). Bad bottle?

What a beautiful fulsome and complex wine. Golden colour with browning throughout. Small bubbles, good fine froth on pouring. Aromas immediately showed caramel dipped apples, oranges, brioche, minerals, florals if you dig in. Rich and well layered. Nice zippy, tingly, juicy acidity but also giving in to a rich fatness on the back end. Lemons, hazelnuts, caramel dipped apples, candied orange peal. Getting a creaminess/chalkiness, with spices and a biscuit nature as well. Beautiful wine. Dry but still gives that slightly sweet flavour until the mid palate

My 39th Birthday: I had no expectations for this wine as I'd never tried anything from the producer. It turned out to be a truly enjoyable and very quaffable wine. The nose yielded hints of citrus and white fruit with a clear nutty character underneath. Bright and acidic on the palate. Very nice wine.

Fantastic Champagne - packed with piercingly bright, intense citrus and pear fruit framed by more savoury biscuit and faintly oxidative hazelnut and toasty notes. There's fantastic balance here with persistent effervescence and bright acids keeping it very light and vibrant, and this is far too easy to drink.

At Nunn river House. Look of Straw, powerful mouse, lots streaming bubbles. Nose of Butter, hazelnut. Taste of nutty vanilla. The grape is Cepages Blancs which is a Chardonnay.

mid buttercup yellow - a bit dark for its age. Broad yeast slightly oxidative nose - even a touch of sherry, some nuts and strong honey - palate is rich but lacks finesse and complexity. Too broad and clumsy to be a top wine. Slightly disappointing and not a champagne to cellar.

Powerful stuff. Maybe better with food and could use more time in the bottle but for now it was intense and tasty but a bit hard to drink more than one glass.

Supposedly only 60 bottles brought into the US. An interesting wine…to me the nose was oxidative with a lot of yeast..On the palate, some nice minerality, but I didn't get a lot of fruit. Good intensity and quite fresh. 90 pts

Leaving DC Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park, Washington, D.C.): Had dense mousse on the nose with yeast and citrus as well. The palate was firm and complex with great acidity and weight. This was my favorite Champagne of the night - thought it was elegant and taut with a great life ahead of it.

Very pale straw colour. Extremely reticent nose at first (perhaps too cold?). Exuberantly effervescent. Chalky texture, with loads of green apple character. Powerful malic acid notes; so acidic that you can feel your teeth dissolving. Refreshing like mineral water with a slice of green apple. This really exemplifies the characteristic of tension in wine (taste it and you'll see what I mean). Give it a few hours and the concentration will really come out (I bumped up the score one notch upon some giving the wine some air). This is painful in the sense of the Krug Grande Cuvee -- far too much intensity contained in a single gulp.

Lemon sourdough with wet concrete and saline mineral undertones. Crisp and chalky; will continue to evolve over 5-10 years.
