PnP, served non-blind. Dark ruby, no sign of age. Earthen, dusty cedar aromas tossed with grilled herbs and cherry skin in the background. With some swirling, this opens to reveal a simple, but honest wine offering up a medium body, short finish. Good for what it is, which is a mid-week table wine. Worked just fine for homemade pizzas on the grill. Drink thru 2014, 14,0% abv.

PnP that was consistent with prior bottles, and a solid match for cavatappi, red sauce and meatballs. Lovely perfumes that range from earth to bright red floral.Medium body, medium acids and finish. Excellent at just $15, recommended, 14,0% abv

I love the earthen funk, scorched rocks, fennel seed and African spices on this, for $10, it's a hands-down winner. Medium-bodied, avg acidity and complexity, excellent food wine. recommended, 14% abv, drink thru 2014

My go-to wine to use in my red sauce recipe, though I'm always known to save some for the pasta dinner as well. I need to get more of this daily drinker as much for its underlying fruit as its lively acidity. 14,0% abv, drink thru 2014. Nothing overly complex, but nothing fat, hot or clumsy, either. I'll prolly pick up another (6) at the $10 sale price

Agree with Sauron's notes. A really nice daily drinker. Overly complex nose for this price point, palate falls a little short, but that's to be expected at just $11, I think. Very well integrated at the moment and, impressively (and unexpectedly), it drank slightly better on night #2. Clean, enjoyable and true to the variety and region if just slightly modern. 14,0% abv, drink thru 2014

Bramble and jam nose is like classic Zin, some spice and cocoa in there, too. Sweet ruby fruit, but now i get the italian aspect with the tartness and herbs. Interesting to compare and contrast the similarities with zin, and note the Italian connection. Good Italian intro for zin-fans.

Nice medium earthy notes intermixed with wild berries blueberries and spice; silky mouth, nice blueberry notes, a bit jammy, but not hot, not herbal or brambly--really nicely balanced and juicy with wild berries and a good acidity and nice spicy finish. Very yummy. perfect burger wine.

Medium Cherry core with a light cherry rim. Nose of dusty earth with dried black fruit (battle between bouquet and aroma). Good balance between acidity and tannin. Med tannin, med acidity. finish a bit non descript and not long. All in all not bad for the price. Easy to drink and would go well with many food selections.

Disappointing. Thin, acidic, a little sweet, something unpleasant in the nose. It was tolerable but not enjoyable shortly after opening with dinner of spaghetti l'amatriciana. Afterwards a somewhat unpleasant taste appeared matching the unpleasant nose.

Cheap and cheerful, Italian style. Nice bright red fruit, but with a mixture of earthy rusticity that I associate with southern Italian wines. Less overblown and alcoholic than US Zinfandels, and easy to drink with many different foods.

Off restaurant wine list in Newport Beach. Simple with red fruit and still a bit of tannin present.
