On open the nose poured out dark berries. Double decanted for fine sediment and air (per other CT suggestions). Drank 12 hours later and nose list a but of intensity. Palate showed medium intensity cherry, sour cherry, great balance. Not overwrought. That said, a bit simple on the palate and would hold to let this age longer for complexity (and mitigate giving so much air and thus reducing the nose).

PNP. Red cherry and herbs on the nose, some orange peel and almost stemmy which is surprising for Chevillon. Deep red cherry and spice palate, lovely saline infused texture with a core of lively fruit. Excellent tonight and definitely in the drinking zone.

Deep and rich nose. Black plum and raspberry. Forest floor and a hint of leather/barnyard. A hint of Brett disturbs and detracts. Medium-fullish, fullish palate. Quite tannic, but ripe. Deep and structured. Dark fruit, nuts and sweet tobacco. Quite oaky with hints of coffee. Very NSG-typical! But also a bit four-square. Ready to go. Can be kept 5-10 more years.

Vertical/Horizontal Tasting of Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Premier Crus (San Francisco): Light ruby. Green herb and scorched earth. Medium to lighter weight, but more body and sap as it opens. Fruit more in the background than the Cailles, and there is more tannic grip to resolve, which really cuts off the finish now. Not as impressive as the 2010 version of this.

Similar to my previous notes, this was more closed than the 09 LSG but with more air it starts to open up. Can definitely do with more cellaring. But the potential is certainly there.

Opened and immediately had a beautiful nose but on palate was initially tight. 6 hours later this started to open up but certainly didn’t seem more open than the LSG 09 I tried a couple years ago which was stunning. Perhaps going through a dumb phase?

I slow-oxed the bottle for 1.5 hours before dinner. Still lively red but you can see the terracotta coming. On the nose, blood orange and dark berries. On the palate, incredibly silky texture, and a captivating liquorish taste profile of red grapefruit, smoked paprika, and sage. At that point, I found the wine absolutely outstanding. 1.5 hour later I found this still excellent, but less exciting, a bit muted. I could not tell whether this is because it is a wine for food (I was done with dinner then; this is a very versatile wine, as regards food pairing), or because the wine itself got tired. I will recall my earlier impressions and would not hesitate to start drinking other bottles now. 94-95

Exquisite bouquet upon opening! Ethereal cherry and white pepper notes sparkle with every sip of this luscious, elegant Vaucrains. The wine is medium bodied, silky and refined with velvety tannins. This is the first of nine bottles purchased at auction a year ago. I think this will be on par with Chevillon's 2002 Les Saint Georges in the years to come!!

Opened 2 hours earlier. Even ruby without lightening. Spice and blueberry nose. Fabulously round, middle weight, gentle soil base. Very suave for this cru. Incredible depth of blue>dark red fruit consistent with the aromatics and just a touch of green that comes out with more air. Here the richness of the vintage is shown by the volume and depth of fruit drowning out the soil notes rather than by any overripeness or heat. Average acidity. This is great stuff which only suffers from being very young and less complex than it will be in another 5 or 10 years. I have no regrets about trying one now since its balance permits enjoyment at this stage.
Litt jordbær og anis først på duft, skogbunn og litt lær, brent tre. Fin fruktfylde først i munnen, men etterhvert overtar litt udelikate bittertoner. Antydning til brett. Ikke en topp flaske, men man kjenner at dette kunne vært godt.

This is officially open for business, but no rush as it should stay here for a decade plus. Decanted and drank over 3 hours. Sauvage NSG character is very present but so it some beautiful ripe red fruits and terrific minerality and acid. This is elegant and brooding at the same time. At this price point it is worth a flyer if you like the more meaty notes in your burgs. Everything is in balance. Really good stuff.

En symbiose av moden kirsebær, søtlakris, underskog og morkler. Intens frukt med stor dybde. Glatte ytterkanter - en dyp og karaktersterk vin, ingen hastverk med denne.

Beautifully transparent, elegant, clean. A restrained style that is graceful, classic. Lighter color than ‘09 Meo, such an interesting contrast to the more opulent, more Vosne style Meo Murgers.

A one hour decant. Beautiful aromatics, a terrific high-wire act between rusticity and elegance -- like florals wrapped in a wild berry package. The palate is not quite up to the aromas, but not far behind. Deep boysenberry flavors, yet it's not at all heavy or syrupy; instead it's fairly lithe and balanced, and really goes down effortlessly. Very nice, and the remaining bottles need to be left alone for a number of years.

-- decanted for 2 hours before the event/approx. 5 hours before tasting -- -- tasted a single pour non-blind over approx. 30 minutes --
Rustic garnet color of medium depth. Upon opening, both my wife and I worried this may be corked. As it was, however, it was just a bit cranky out of the gate; the air exposure helped significantly, and by the time I had it in my glass it had a Nose of significant fruit, some smoky oak and sesame seed; there was also an aspect to it that reminded me of a good Flanders red beer. Medium-light bodied on the palate. Tight, but good. Purple-fruited, with some underlying funk; adequate acidity; brooding; seems to have an attractive future; probably my favorite wine of the tasting.

Surprisingly open and showy for a young pinot, outperforming the '06 and '05 opened side by side (although the '05 will probably be awesome in another 5 -10 years). An open nose of orchids, white flowers, and some underbrush developing into leather and thin top soil later on. Some toasty brown sugar and caramels in addition to approachable red fruit, i.e., more strawberry than cranberry. Would love to get some of these to lay down and come back in in a few years.

EWS -- Wild game and wilder wines dinner: Just a wonderful nose or dark meaty fruit. Young but complex, this wine is well integrated already, with softening tannins adding to the complexity and feel. Wild blackberry and dark fruit taste adds to the overall balance by combining complex mineral aromas with natural sweetness. Drinking well now.

Light garnet, very earthy and secondary aromas and a tired, not much fruit left but not oxidized. Smells like a 10 year old bottle. I don't think this btl. is representative, probably corked. Wow, second time with no luck of the 09 Chevillons, bad batch or bad merchant? I remember the 2002 of this being a terrific wine. This producer was introduced to me by a burgundy lover from Asia.

Opened and poured, this wine shows in a dark, brooding style with aromatics of black fruits, earth, spice and floral notes. The color is a dark ruby to purple. The medium (full) bodied palate shows black fruits and earth with good overall balance and a medium plus length finish with sufficient tannins and acidity. This wine shows concentration and depth on the palate with similar dark, intense aromatics. This will require a few years of additional bottle age to soften and reveal additional nuance.

Spice and red fruit on the nose, very classic Chevillon nose, but more closed than the others today. Palate shows closed, with austere red fruit, medium structure and very refined tannins. The finish is medium in length and not as juicy as the Perrieres.
