Decanted to reduce sediment which was essential. This wine needs lots of air! After two to three hours it had mellowed beautifully. Still dark maroon color, black fruit, dark chocolate, toast, funk, and oak, Nicely balanced with tannin and acidity. medium long finish. Drinking beautifully now.

A little funky on opening but it blew off over several hours. This is well integrated, but still a bit hot on the finish. Cocoa, mercury, and a bit of blood over mild dark fruit. I agree with other posts... drink em if you've got em!

Wow on the nose. Huge grranimal bacon floral wrapped fruit. So sensual and dynamic. Palate is full voluptuous fruit flavor, without being over the top, touch of spice on the finish. Long, long finish.

Decanted for an hour. Black cherry and blackberry notes, full-bodied, smooth tannins nicely balanced by good acidity. Flavors of ripe black fruits, some sweetness, earthy, long finish. Paired with roasted lamb, very nice. A favorite of all six of us. Great for the price -- $18.

Initially PnV, then drank over course of 6 hrs. Opaque midnight blue hue. Full-bodied, w/velvety tannins nicely balanced by good acidity. Alluring smokey bouquet of black cherry & blackberry notes, bacon fat & spices. Flavors of ripe black cherry, dark red berries, black pepper, herbs & soft dark licorice that evolved into more earthy elements as it breathe, and ending with a nice lingering finish. Drinking well now and could go for a number of more years. Superb.

Decanted for an hour. Drinking beautifully now. Smoke, bacon fat, tobacco, spicebox, tart cherry, black fruits, silky tannins, and sharp acidity. A youthful mouthfeel that begs for another sip. I love the long crisp finish. Excellent Syrah. Wow!

it's fine - overhyped, in my view. not very appealing aroma at opening, but opened up with time in a decanter. when it got there, it was quite good - but not the 94pts it's gotten in pubs.

Bold red fruit and meatiness on the nose. Very smooth with deep red fruit flavors surrounded by smokiness. Full body and long finish. A really good wine from a premier vineyard.

Regret not picking up more of this. The nose is phenomenal on this - reminds me of Paraduxx's Canvasback - tar, bacon fat, stewed plums, brambly fruit. fine tannins and supple mouthfeel. Wonderful structure with excellent finish. This may drink well for another 5-6 years.

This started a little oaky. While its not fruit forward, my problem with it is that it stays a bit monolithic. A nice wine, but even on closeout i wouldnt buy it again. Has some nice earthy notes, But not precise and elegant.

N: aromatic smoke and crispy bacon fat. T: light at first, but has some great structure and body. Burnt cloves, a hint of cinnamon and dark currents. Good lasting finish. Paired with strip steak.

I tasted this with friends at Urban Enoteca on 7/6/11. It had a big but elegant bouquet of plum, black cherry, dusty attic, spice, licorice, cocoa and smoked meat aromas. The palate was velvety smooth and dusty dry with flavors of black cherry, plum, licorice, spice and cocoa.

Another outstanding bottle. Opened and let sit for 30 mins. Nose of graphite, wet earth with a hint of pepper. Medium garnet color. Medium body with a palate of dark berries, cherry and a medium finish. Paired excellent with a South American stir fry. Drinking excellent now, but could probably last another 2-3 years in the cellar.

This wine has mellowed, but still a bit hot with the high alcohol content. I recommend decanting.

Tasty. Tart dried red fruit. Drinking well, but doesn't seem like it has the stuffing to go much longer.

A little age has done well by this. Fragrant, chocolatey berried Syrah, like a savory candy (but not to suggest sweet). Great!
