Always interesting to enjoy different treatment of Nebbiolo from this pretty river valley in the mountains above Lake Como. This bottle quite sound despite advancing age. Cork barely stained. Poured out transparent dark red, very pretty color in the light. Forest aromas. Medium body, persistent fruit. Good acidity and integrated tannin. Bodes well for remaining bottles.

Cork lightly tinged just on the bottom. Deep purple. Savory aromas. Not so much fruit as to override the still dusty tannins, but enough to be complemented by the good level of acidity. Perhaps not my favorite sfursat, but always gives some pleasure.

These wines don't seem to impress me as much now as when I tasted and then bought them, but they're still fun. Has that ripe fruit character you'd expect. Wish I remembered more but it was at the end of a long tasting.

Pretty good on pop and pour, but really good on the second day. Rustic berry richness, but still light on its feet, laced with tobacco and smoke. Showed less of a dried fruit profile than past bottles. Lovely with rack of lamb.

Granato di media compattezza. Al naso ciliegia, rosa appassita, goudron, pepe nero, menta, note ematiche. Bocca piena, alcolica, piuttosto fresca e sapida a garantire un notevole equilibrio

Light red color , mature fruits , dried leaves , tobacco , on the palate I found it in a perfect maturity , silky tannins , savoury , have 14,5% alcohol but don't show it.

This bottle just sang tonight alongside a porcini risotto. Nicely aromatic showing earthy notes; great on the palate - rich and focused with dried fruits and herbs, earth, and loads of refreshing acidity, a tad of VA lends interest. Long savory finish. Fourth and best so far of the half case.

Not very impressive this time around. Subdued nose, decent mouthfeel, proper balance, solid finish. Somewhat raisiny, but not very distinctly anything overall. Drank over two days with similar notes. Drink up.

Translucent purple with light brick rim. Nice full, bold legs on the glass. Nose of Oak, cream, vanilla, dark red fruit, mocha, leather, prunes, raisins. Allot of alcohol almost port or brandy like on the palate. Yes, Amarone highlights were there but not dominant. Tart short finish with smooth tannins and little or no acidity. I'm not certain about a previous TN which they referred to Top Soil on the palate. Never tasted top soil to know. VERY different yet enjoyable. Not certain what I would pair it with. I only rated 90 because I'm not certain what I really think about this wine just yet. I really feel like I'm drinking brandy or a liquor and not wine. That is not a bad thing it is just different.
30 minutes later it gets smoother and more subtle and supple. This wine will need a BIG STEAK, Lamb or the like. Beef Bourg or Coq Au Vin. Veal, Osso Boco, etc. Would pair awesome with those dinners.

Verticale Bitto e Sfurzat Nino Negri (Canonica, Milano, Italy): Rosso rubino granato molto scarico. Naso davvero complesso scuro di buccia di arancia candita iconfettura di frutti rossi viola appassita, spezie dolci. In bocca è di corpo caldo con tannini ancora leggermente agressivi! Finale lunghissimo. Affinato al 50% in barrique

Nino Negri Dinner (La Masseria): Without question this was really nice, but it lost the freshness and the balance of the Fracia. Perhaps I'm just not a huge fan of drying grapes, but I prefered the Fracia.

drank this bottle together with an Amarone (both styles using semi dried grapes) and the Sfursat was more rustic than the fruit driven Amarone. Sour cherries and a hint of tar on the nose. Cherries carried through to the palate as well together with some dark plums and some top soil.
This wine is really heavy and you need some food to be able to have more than a small taster

I've never had a Sfursat before, and from comments elsewhere was expecting a somewhat rustic Nebbiolo. This was actually rather smooth and modern, a big wine with a bit of toasty oak. Rich deep red fruit, a bit of raisin, powerful, tanninc. Like a midmodern Barolo on steroids. Not what I expected, but quite interesting. B/B+

Popped and poured. Transluicent reddish-brown. Shy on the nose with deep earthy notes. Full bodied but light on its feet, this wine kept transforming over the course of the evening. Earth dominates the palate, with a lot of richness. Red fruit and raisins coming through in the middle. Finishes med-long with a considerable amount of fine grained tannins, and refreshing bitterness. Very nice indeed.

Nice gamy cherries earth and some funk, although it showed cleaner than what I remembered. Light but quite rich and intense. Very nice.
