April 2022 - Since the best tasting was recommended for 2011-2018, on this Dunham Cab, I just opened this 2007 vintage, and was pleasantly surprised by the still delicious full bodied flavor that was so smooth, dense, and palatable. I enjoyed with a glass this afternoon paired with a bacon and horseradish cheese and turkey salami. All the flavors of food and drink together were enhanced and bursting with flavor. The only aftertaste was a blend of all those fine flavors!

Surprise find in my cellar, 95 pts from WE. Mature layered wine at this point with pronounced olive flavors. Went nice with grilled fresh caught sockeye salmon.

Appropriate Washington red color. Low tannins. Plenty of tree fruit, cherries, berries and wood. Super smooth with a long finish. I like it, but had slightly higher expectations.

From Magnum to share at the BBQ - 20+ guests and nearly as many wines to try.
Opened at 4:30 to breathe, had one glass at 6:30 another after 10:00. Ripe cherries and strawberry nose mingled with baking spices. Tannins are very smooth at this point, but still has pleasingly fresh red and black fruits. Silky mouthfeel, love the texture of aged quality cabernet. Some acidity remaining, so I think this will last a few more years, but probably won't get much better.

Of the four 2007s poured this was the definite star. Lots of deep fruit, but also more sophisticated graphite, olive, mineral and cocoa nib notes. A nice hint of savoriness, lots of structure and a touch of dustiness.

We liked it. Plenty of juicy black currant and black berry fruit. Chocolate, tobacco, and a fairly strong oak component. Moderate finish. About what you would expect for the price.

Bright and elegant. Transparent dark ruby purple color; aromatic nose, with blackcurrants at first, then plums and black cherries, with weedy tobacco and a touch of vanilla; great acidity, with tangy, rich, bright red and purple fruit flavors, tasty cocoa and a savory note; chewy but well-integrated tannins, and a long, bright juicy finish, with some more tobacco notes, and ending in black cherries. Fresh and juicy as a pop and pour, but worth letting it air for 1 or 2 hours to bring out the complexity.

Really enjoyed this wine. It ended up getting a good three hour decant which was unintended and I don't think necessary as this seemed fresh lively and juicy! I found myself going back to the glass again and again and made the comment it was almost gulpable. Not extremely complex or deep but solid core of fruits and acidity. I think price point is everything with this wine under 30$ and I think you'll be okay more than 30$ you may expect a little more.

On first opening the nose is featuring currant, peat and mineral notes. The palate is big rich dark currants, chocolate and clove spices that linger on to the finish.
One hour later the nose has character of sour peat, currant and cedar spices. The palate is building strength with currants and some toffee & espresso bean tartness with clove spices on the finish.
One day later the nose has character of currant, dark fruit, peat, cinnamon and hints of coffee. The palate is also showing currant, black cherry, clove and espresso bean spices with a tart cedar spiced clove finish.

Dark, transparent ruby red. Perfumed red and black fruit on the nose. Full bodied, but high in acid. Offering bright red fruit and just a hint of tobacco. Firm tannins add some backbone. Long finish. A very pure, red fruited expression of Cabernet. Not sure about the evolution as I can't imagine the fruit getting any better and brighter than now, but tannins need to integrate to make it really pretty.

Popped, decanted and drank over a few hours. Ruby red with some light transmission in the glass, no sediment. Still very young with a green tannic nose, some smells of ripening red cherries and mocha made with skim milk. This wine is still tight and not revealing alot yet even with air time. The midpalate was restrained and mid weight. The finish was uneventful and of minimal length. The verdict is still out on this wine. I would give it atleast 3 more years of cellar time before trying again. Everyday drinker?

From Dunham Cellars Wine Club tasting notes (did not reference XIII): The nose alone makes a person hungry! Effusive plum, cherry, anise and baked apple rise to balance the youthful yet silky and balanced mouthful of mountain berries and black cherry cobbler.

Solid wine but fruit is lacking a little bit. It might be a little bit over its peak but still enjoyable.

Not so impressed. Some fruits, a bit muddy in middle, a bit coarse, okay drinking, but not refined.
