  • Dark intense ruby colour, bordering almost on garnet, slight orangey tinges around the rim. Nose still has plenty of cassis fruit, but there's a tobacco note there too, and a hint of something almost 'new world' - eucalyptus?

Palate is still fruity, but feels quite mature now - cassis overtaken by meaty & smokey notes, almost roast beef, with a hint of cigar smoke. Tannins are very, very silky now. Acidity is medium / high, finish is of moderate length. Solid, solid wine.

  • Very tight until at least one hour breathing - would definitely suggest decanting for this wine (which I rarely do).

Once it opens some incredible roasted almond aromas arise, along with some restrained black fruit and interestingly exotic oak spices.

Good, full body. Black fruits, well integrated oak. Tannins are gripping - a nice piece of bloody beef would perfectly match this wine.

Drink now, and will improve with age. Now - 2020.
