Note to self; don't lose St. Joseph Blancs in the cellar for years. Long in the tooth (to the point of being edentulous). Advanced with oxidized pineapple aromas, flabby palate.

Well made with good typacity but white Rhones just don't seem to float my boat and this one is no exception. There's something about them that I find less exciting than a well made Chardonnay from Chablis or the Cote Beaune. I find them kind of dull. I'll forget and likely try another one in a few years and wonder again why I bought it. My score reflects the relative quality of the wine not my personal enjoyment drinking it.

Upfront there is a subtle nose of fruit with a touch of oak, on the palate its full of wet stones, almonds, (slight bitter notes balanced by lemon and olives and sage) with great balance, plenty of acids - a little bit of juicy-ness on the sides of the mouth with great feel and presence across the entire palate. Good finish. Nice effort - this bottle was finished fast - paired well with the spicy Asian foods actually (had a Pinot Gris from Luxemburg in reserve in case this wasn't the case but happily we can save that one for another evening.......). I am going out and find more of this stuff!

Highly aromatic. Also rich and exotic but not nearly as oily as the Sang des Cailloux. More tolerable weight and some interest added by spice and vanilla. I wouldn't buy but it is at least a good effort.

New Northern Rhones from Kermit Lynch (SF Wine Trading Company): Yellow. Highly aromatic, floral-almost could have been Viognier from the nose. Lighter and much more lively in the mouth than the Clape. Cinnamon and minerality in the mouth combine to make this a very interesting bottle. My favorite of the whites.

In Wailea...
Peach, orange blossom, stone and spice. Medium finish and focused. Enjoyable and a nice golden colour. Drink now - 2016.

Citrus on the nose. Round soft and easy, but a bit boring

Same as chablis28 - this is well made but I am not a fan of white Rhones. What exactly are they going for?

Very good white Rhone, with almond, lemon, and floral aromas and flavors. Nothing too assertive or waxy, and ample acidity keeps the wine lively.

Medium yellow. Citrus and marzipan nose. Full bodied but dry and serious with a touch of wood. Finishes spicy and mineral. Well done.
