  • This wine is still tasting extremely good right now !! At Peak !! I agree with my tasting note of 8 months ago.
The composite cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. Deep ruby color with little to no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate, cherry, and caramel. Flavors of cranberry, black cherry cola, rhubarb, and spice with a long finish. This used to be my least favorite of the Melville small lots, but is much better with age. Great fruit and acidity make a very balanced Pinot Noir from the Indigène Block on the estate Vineyard just in front of the winery in the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. Indigène block is planted exclusively to the Dijonnaise clone 115. This Pinot Noir is truly age worthy and has more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have one more bottle of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

  • In a great spot, this wine is tasting extremely good right now !!
The composite cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. Deep ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate, cherry, and caramel. Flavors of cranberry, black cherry cola, rhubarb, and spice with a long finish. Popped and poured, this wine really benefited from gentle oxygen since it was much more soft & integrated on day two. Great fruit with firm acidity made into a very balanced Pinot Noir from the Indigène Block on the estate Vineyard just in front of the winery in the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. Indigène block is planted exclusively to the Dijonnaise clone 115. Although this wine was not my favorite upon release, time has been kind to this Pinot Noir which is truly age worthy and has more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have two more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

  • Opened for our friend Kim, as she loves these Cali PN's.
Big, burly and ripe, with notes of blueberry jam, cola, and spice.
Flabby on the slightly hot finish, drink this wine now through 2019.

  • Lovely red fruit nose. Dark and red berries. Full bodied but well rounded.
