  • Found this bottle in my cellar and it was still very drinkable.

  • PnP with slight evolution over 3 nights. Rusty, garnet. Nose features cherry-like fruit with some dried herbs and hint of tar. Palate has medium-light fruit weight with rustic tannins and fairly bracing acidity. Old school for sure and made for the table; of place. On subsequent nights this was more expressive and began leaning towards rounder, but remained fairly austere.

  • Quite deep colour, decent nose. Good fruit on the palate but plenty of tannin, still.
Quite austere at first without food - the wine was made for, and needs, food.
It opened gradually in the glass and showed good length. I think it will age for longer than the 2014-2016 ''drink between' suggestion.
With food, later, this was a different wine and much more impressive. Greatly improved, softer, sweeter fruit and much more complex. I have not put a rating number because wines like this are impossible for me to assess fairly 'cold' without food.
Tasted at Grand Union Wine Society with Ben Robson of Bat & Bottle.
