Has matured well and is in a good drinking spot. Substantial wine, clearly Sangiovese but with heft. This is not your everyday Chianti Classico. Very good to excellent but not completely my style. Drink now but will hold for a couple of years.

Having recently tried a 2015 I'm still not sure if these bottles are flawed or if its a characteristic of the 2007. Hence I'm not rating this bottle Baked note really shows on opening and bother on nose and front palate but fades by finish. at 15% this isn't a light wine and while the fruit isn't prominent there's still a lot of power to it and a fair amount of oak evident. funnily enough if anything it improved having been open a couple of days My last bottle of what has been an interesting if somewhat confusing experience from a case of wine.

Brownish red color. Nose has lost the fruit and is smelling "old". With a little air the flavors are ok but the fruit is gone and not much tannin. This is my last bottle. Used to really like it.

Identical to last year's note: A food wine more than a drink on its own bottle. Slight baked/prune profile to initial palate which others have also commented on here (Is this correct then?). Flavours of sour cherry and plum follow. Remains pretty tannic with medium to high acidity. Remarkably no sediment to be seen in the bottle. Feels like there's potential longevity through the tannin and acidy profile but keep an eye on it to make sure the fruit isn't going into a past it/baked profile.

rustic dark berry, walnut, earth. Lots of concentration. Med/- tannin. Rather earthy and grassy. Unruly and adolescent. Day 3, wow his nose has gained lots of power. Pulled itself together today too. Cherry, plum, and terrifyingly good tonight. Medium tannin, shows a touch of wood to the palate. The acid is big, and doesn't fall completely into place, but, f***, something wonderful happened to this wine over the last two days. Blockbuster today! Continues to gain ground. Deep and complex aromas. Marmite, dark berry, earth, a bit frightening, remind me of some Priorat/Roussillon. Dark and earthy. Dark and dries, but not overripe. Some black olive, leading to nail polish. Day 5, holding on wonderfully, and the most generally approachable of the days open. Dark black fruit, some roast, reminds me of 03 Aalto PS without the coconut oil. Black licorice, still imposing structure. F***, let's extend this drinking window to 2042. Drink again in 2022 at the earliest.

a 15% bruiser of a Chianti; very ripe fruit, almost raisiny (chianti, amarone-style?); some tobacco and dried herbs (mint?) in background; but whole package becomes overwhelming -- full body, high alcohol, sharp acidity

Deep dark reddish garnet in color. Full, fragrant, attractive, maturing & complex nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries and plums with cedar, smoky, earthy, old leather, dried herbs, licorice, some spice notes of cloves, floral notes of roses, black tea, tobacco, minerals, toasty oak and a slight dose of vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced, maturing, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries & tart cranberries with spices, some cocoa, herbs, minerals, smoky, toasty oak and a touch of vanilla. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and airing and may develop and benefit from an additional three to five years of aging.

Mid ruby, translucent but also with a little cloudiness, just lacks a little brightness and clarity on the eye. The nose is slightly muted but opened up a little to give sweet cherry but also some savoury, balsamic vinegar notes. The palate is set cherry fruit but the tannins and acidity make the wine a little astringent. I'm sure this wine will evolve and improve with time but at the moment a little heavy and out of balance.

Medium ruby-red color with a compelling nose of raspberry, minerals and soil. This is more fruit forward than most Chiantis, but the tart red cherry and plum fruit was perfectly counterbalanced by a refereshing minerality and acid that was unmistakably Italian. Notes from memory: Decanted 1 hour and had with Italian food. Wonderful with the fresh parmigiano reggiano cheese. I really enjoyed this bottle. Time has helped it smooth it out. There was no heat on the back end like some previous bottles. Wonderful (but ripe) sangiovese flavors of cherry, smooth tannins and good acidity. This isn't a very rustic style but it is not an overblown new world style either. I would still decant before serving but this is starting to hit it's stride. I think it will last for years and some nice tertiary flavors will develop but it's hard ot to drink it now. 91+

This wine is not shy. Potent sour cherry liquor with a band of milk chocolate throughout the middle. Kinda like one of those chocolate covered cherries that I used to hate, except I like this. Ruby core lightening to a slight tawniness at the edges. Nose is interesting in its presentation of red berry, green stems, and cooked lamb. Medium-full to full bodied on the palate. Palate is simple and tannic: warm red fruits; not much fruit concentration; medium-long finish of light intensity; 15% alc. is a bit prickly on the palate. Gut impression score: low to mid 80’s.

Decanted half an hour before eating, had with rigatoni in a tomatoe cream sauce with mushrooms and sausage. - Nose of cherry and roses - On the palate good quality fruit, red cherry, moderate tannins, good acidity. There is some heat on the back end.
This needs time to integrate better, for the tannins to smooth out and gain additional complexity. This will get better with age. Decant it if you want to drink it soon.

Nose of red cherries, blackberry liqueur, oak, purple flowers, green herbs/stems, alcohol, with a low level mineral background. Feels medium to full on the midpalate, medium to long finish, alchohol again evident. I really wanted to love this, but didn't. Seems to have suffered a bit for the warm year. Preferred tho 06.

This is a vineyard selection, not just a cuvee selection. 100% Sangiovese, the designation or name born in '79. Longer maceration -- 35 days, and then 5% new french barrique on the wine.
Man, that french oak really pops up the cherrry tones and the orange zest of sangiovese. Many times I think it interferes with the wine but not here. This is a steady hand, well made, pronouced smell.
2007 was a warmer vintage, and you feel it on the fruit, a touch more darker fruit character but they didn't burn off all the floral notes which is nice.
They feel that sometimes the warmer vintages for them are the best, or at least the longest ageing.

This is becoming quite a consistent chianti and this version should have a "+" in the rating as I think it's better than the 2004 and 2006 that I rated 90 previously. takes some time to open in the glass, ruby colour, earthy nose. on palate cherry, plum, earth and licorice. with time it becomes quite vibrant and complex. like.

I had it again with rigatoni in a tomatoe cream sauce with mushrooms, chicken and sausage.
I decanted it over an hour before and it was really nice. The cherry flavors were really good, the tannis weregood there wasn't heat on the back end as there was previously. I think it will continue to improve with more age.

Italian Wine Tasting (Harrogate Fine Wine Company): -- tasted a single glass non-blind over approx. 10 minutes --
Ruby core lightening to a slight tawniness at the edges.

- Nose of cherry and roses
- On the palate good quality fruit, red cherry, moderate tannins, good acidity. There is some heat on the back end.
This needs time to integrate better, for the tannins to smooth out and gain additional complexity. This will get better with age. Decant it if you want to drink it soon.

Not sure that I will ever appreciate Chianti. But this one was terrific. If I wasn't paying attn, I'd have thought it was something else.

This is becoming quite a consistent chianti and this version should have a "+" in the rating as I think it's better than the 2004 and 2006 that I rated 90 previously. takes some time to open in the glass, ruby colour, earthy nose. on palate cherry, plum, earth and licorice. with time it becomes quite vibrant and complex. like.
