A bit less fruit, a bit more bottle bouquet than last time. Tannins are still present but sweeter. Nice long finish. Getting better with age, like a well made cab should. Drinks like a $40-50 bottle.

This bottle had a bit of an acidic flavor to it, which I do not remember from my last bottle. Perhaps this is now past its prime age, or perhaps my bottle was flawed?

Opened, poured a small amount, returned after 45 minutes. Plum, herbs, resolved tannin, tasty all around. Great wine, in a good spot. No need to wait and it's got a few years left.

Poured through vinturi. Initially I felt the fruit was weak, mostly red berries plus a bit of pencil lead. Almost no heat. 45 minutes later, the red berries and pencil lead faded and were replaced with a stronger sense of dark berries, blueberry, and chocolate. I felt it had pleasant acidity with good integrated tannins, but nothing oaky.
The biggest thing for me was there wasn't any harsh astringency that I have experienced with other Cabs. In fact, I was getting to the point that I was avoiding Cabs because I didn't like the bitter edge to the tannins. This wine has made me reconsider.
Decanted 2 hours. Nose of pencil lead and red cherry, some leather. Tart red fruits, blueberry, with acidity to balance. Medium dry finish. Good amount of tannins, I think I'll hold my last bottle for a bit. Good but I think this will get better with some time.

Dark magenta. Blueberry, bramble, well worn leather, and baking spice nose. Medium bodied, black cherries, blackberry jam, sweet dusty tannins, black olives, smoke, and a dried cherry medium to long finish. Went great with a tri-tip. What a value at the woot price.

This bottle is great and not flawed like my first one. Nose: Some fruit, maybe cherry or berry. Taste: Fruit, acidity and some pencil lead. This bottle is very good and great QPR.

I drank this bottle but it was not good. I believe it was oxidized. I did drink it but it was difficult to do. If it had been corked like another of recent bottle in the Wellington mixed case, it would have been dumped down the drain.

Damn. Wellington makes another winner. Initially a heavenly nose of strawberry and maybe black raspberry - very much reminiscent of his merlot, making me think some of that is blended in here. After a little while in the glass, I start to get cocoa and the fruits darken a bit. Tannins are a bit harsh without food to balance them, but I think a little more time in the air will fix that too. Great wine, imo. Drinks well now, and will also do well nicely for several more years.

Opened and left for 90 minutes. Has what I think of as a fairly typical cab nose - slightly dusty lacquered wood with dark cherry. The palate is similar - black cherry stands out with some plum and oak. Fine but present tannins. Nice acidity. I am generally not a cab lover, but this seems to be a well-made wine if somewhat simple.

From Peter Wellington himself (the winemaker) on 02/2011: The Cabernet is absolutely luscious now, but should continue to develop for a couple of years and hold for a couple of more after that.

Needed some decanting to open up. A truly wonderful example of Sonoma Valley Cabernet. Looking forward to the other bottle in the cellar.

Nice right now, bright fruit and soft tannins. If you have a few open one now.

Supple darkness. Good on its own but shines with a proper meal. Not overly complex but develops nicely after 1 hour decant.

Nice everyday drinking Cab. Not a great deal of complexity or body, but a nice round Cab at a great QPR.
