Outstanding village wine from Gouges... 16 year old wine performing almost on par with 1er cru. The drinking window is clearly closing but, true to form, the wines from Gouges age gracefully. Soft tannins but holding everything together, great aromatics. Unlike most wines from Gouges, do not decant this wine.

Light carmine red. Beautiful and complex bouquet with some barnyard, flint stone, red forest fruits and some toasted oak. Same on the palate. Firm acidity and dissolved tannin. Beautiful and complex wine. Probably at its best now and for another year or two. (This bottle was kept in a perfect cellar)

With mushroom risotto the night before Xmas.
Wet dog! Fresh cut cedar! Dirt. Cranberry... It’s giving desert after the rain— sage, petrichor.
