  • Sheer magic. On day one, as one would expect with a top-tier Barbera, firm, purity of fruit, structured, very sapid. Day two, wow, it's fully open, all of its lovely perfumes on full display. Transcends the grape and place as you might know it, and really just makes you sit down and ponder the beauty of it all. It's been some years since I last had this, and this is my last bottle, but just wow, this is just jaw-droppingly good. Medium>full bodied, plenty of fresh acids, red and blue fruits, layers and layers of complexity and a long, satisfying finish. I wish I had cases. And more. 14,0% abv., thru 2023. highly recommended

PnP, served non-blind over 2 days. No sign of age, firmly in the secondary stage. With a properly herbed porchetta, even better.

  • PnP, served non-blind over 2 nights. Dark ruby core, no sign of age. Explosive nose, with bright aromas of sage, black cherry, pie crust, cured meat and milk chocolate. Large-scaled palate, but equally well lifted. This is not your father's barbera, no sir. Depth and breadth to spare it seems as this just wants to give more and more, so I sit back and I take more and more. Really quite a surprise on the night, and seriously tasty juice. Bravo, Marco! 14,0% abv, drink thru 2019.
