PnP. No detailed notes. Opaque purpleish black. Full body minus. Took 20 minutes to open up. Tart, with integrated, complex flavors of equal red and dark. Moderate spice. Extremely long finish.

NYE 2021 (ST): Decanted for 2+ hours. Cork broke with normal corkscrew, but was not overly saturated (so maybe user error). Not a strong nose upon opening, but after air time, it opened up with red and blue fruits, and some notes of cedar and tobacco. This is still mostly in primary phase, and the wood is evident. Flavors of red fruits, black cherry, and blackberry. Enjoyable wine.

Wow - what a wine! Decanted for 1 hour. Very perfumed nose with black fruits (cassis, black berries and blueberries) and some spices. Mouth: full body - blockbuster wine, black fruits, silky tannins, excellent mouth feel and LONG finish. Everything very well integrated - nice acidity. Wine is at peak, drinking perfectly now but is built like a tank, can easily last another 10 years (until 2028+). Impressive! 94 pt.

Dark fruitts. Blackberry, bluberry, cassis, with a raciness evident. I think it will round out further over the next few years. Very nice wine with years to go.

Decanted. Big, rich and loaded with dark fruit. At this stage still young and nearly monolithic. The others loved this but I couldn't quite get a feel for it yet. Not scored.
Great wine and coming along very nicely. Dark fruit of black cherry and blackberry up front. Has a nice core of dark chocolate and leather notes. The tannins are still very prominent and firm and ends in a wonderful long finish.

This wine has a unique character that we love. We had this late in the evening after a steak dinner that included some real winners like Palmaz 2007 Gaston and 2005 Domaine de Beaurenard CDP. Both were great... the Outpost was rated best by all.

Developing nicely, seems to be in a nice window which I imagine will last for many years. Dark fruits, vanilla, long, smooth finish. On the razors edge of being too sweet? That's about my only quibble with it.

Developing nicely. Classic cabernet sauvignon. Deep, rich aromas of black berries, chocolate, cassis, with a slight hint of leather. On the palate, the wine has a nice supple feel and the flavors match the nose nicely with a medium to long finish. The tannins have already resolved quite nicely, but I can see this wine easily lasting another decade.

Very enjoyable. Wine is still very young but - to my surprise - already very drinkable. Tannins still present but beautifully integrated. Built like a tank.

Very nice bottle. Drank side by side with the 2008 with filet. Still a little young and especially when compared to the 2008. Another great effort by the team at Outpost.

Soaring nose. Beautiful expression of Howell Mountain Cabernet. Delicious mix of red and black fruit with classic mountain spice. Nicely balanced. Stylistically reminds me very much of my beloved O'Shaughnessy. Drinking on the young side, but open for business with some aeration. For me, this will improve for another few years. 14.5% ABV

We served 3 great cabs, and this was a big hit. It has a medium body compared to the Fortis served, with a very nice blend of fruit flavors. All three were distictive in their own way. This is a wonderful drinking cabernet.

warm and powerful on palette. Plenty of fruit with a softer than expected tannic finish. Very enjoyable. Decanted, didn't note much change over 3 hours it took to consume. Love Howell Mtn wines

Really outstanding...after 2-3 hours of air. Deeeeep high quality dark fruit that sails smoothly over the palate. No rough edges but a little zest on the finish to make it interresting. I'm after many more of these pronto

Glass #1: getting the Thanksgiving run off to a good start! I justified opening this because it is so young and might show better tomorrow with some air under cork. Ha! We'll see if it lasts that long. Deep and fruity, like someone deglazed a roast with a raspberry lambic and layered in caramel and black currant. Rich, yet balanced. Serve with rare beef, chocolate, or on its own for loads of pleasure. This glass gets a 93.

At Parcel 104 in Santa Clara. Decanted and consumed over sixty minutes. Almost black in color, with rich blackberry and black cherry on the nose. Tons of black fruit on the palate with a smooth satisfying finish. Young, but very enjoyable. If scoring 92-94.

Another wine we opened early to decide on further purchases (it's a tough job, but someone has to do it). C liked it better than I did, but I still enjoyed a lot. Dark, rich, smoother than I thought it would be at this stage. Worth waiting a few years on the next bottle.
