2008 Crystal Basin Cellars Grenache

  • Pretty good if consumed as a pop and pour. The high alcohol level (almost 16%) unfortunately really saps the life from this wine and after a couple hours it is a complete mess.

Vibrant raspberry flavor, slightly muted nose.

  • Popped, let sit for an hour, vinturi.

Color: medium-light intensity ruby red. No visible sediment.

Nose: bright raspberry followed closely by stinging ethanol. After passing that, juicy plum and a hint of spice.

Palate: the juicy plum stars here with the raspberry and a hint of sasparilla. There is hardly any tannin but the barest hint of bitterness.

Feel: medium body. Fantastic long finish almost makes up for the ethanol. Lingers for 30+ seconds
