Acker April 2019 (Marea in NYC): Lots of the pepper and again a more vegetal style. Some pepper. No real fruit. It was fine. Not as good as I'd have expected for the price point.

Jasper Mugnier. Stunning Amoureuses that's more approachable and pleasurable than Musigny alongside right now. Floral, sweet, lifted aromatics with very fine and energetic palate. Nail polish finish caps it.

Bt breathed for 2 hrs, ruby in color, nose has strawberry, smoky red fruits and spice. Hood concentration on palate, initial bitterness faded quickly in glass yielding more purfumed fruits and acidity. Tannin beginning to integratr but there should be more potential for aging. Med to long finish.

Really pretty. It's striking right off the bat for being more tannic than the Roumier (Cras), but the tannin is so fine-grained that it pulls off that silky Amoureuses presence anyway. Much, much better than the 2000 we had two weeks back. Despite its fine texture it is still deep in tone, with a black-fruited complexion.

Classic Mugnier/Chambolle beautiful pearl silk texture. Red fruit profile, ripe for a '98, and well balanced. I didn't think it would improve a ton, but by the end of the night it had opened up quite a bit, especially the aromatics. A little spice and cedar, very feminine and sexy.

Relative success for the vintage but somewhat clunky for Amoureuses and lacked the clarity of expression of the Musigny.

Atlanta Amoureuses & Monty Dinner: Really good. So smooth and open right now. A bit lighter than the others in this flight.

I have the tasting notes along side with the 05’ vintage served in the night.

A bit four quarters but in a nice way, with oodles of power. Gorgeous black fruit, strangely delicate but with real vitality.

Lech Day 3 - dinner with Jean/Melanie, KH/Ina, Simon/Sandy (Almhof Schneider): bursting aroma of wild berries, violet and spice. everything I love about the terroir. doesn't quite have the intensity on palate of the best vintage, but still a real beauty.

Becy and Russell`s house. Excellent! Great length, sweet red fruits of strawberries and rasperry sorbet. Silky tannins. Still has lots of years left.
