A little over the top, but I wanted a wine that wouldn't be overpowered by the steak au poivre. Mission accomplished. This wine probably isn't for everyone with it's in-your-face style but we enjoyed it. Not sure I'd buy again at the price point.

Just as wicked and controversial as its reputation. It really could be written up like a port and accompany your favorite smoke, and with that mindset it comes across as nicely balanced and complex. So tonight, it was paired up with a Flannery 45-day NY steak and what a great combination that also turned out to be! Unfortunately, after the steak was gone the brute abv force of the wine made further exploration tedious. With such a nice cut of cow, the two of us can usually kill a bottle of 13-15abv. Not so with this giant. 5+12+17+8= 92

Virtual Men's Wine night (Zoom): From carafes poured two hours earlier. This seemed slightly bretty so possible I would rate another bottle higher as I'm very sensitive to brett. Other than that, bold, intense dark fruit balanced with intense minerality on the palate. Long finish. Raspberry jam on the delicious nose. I'd like to try this again without the brett for sure. My #3 of 5 and the group's #5.

Black viscous motor oil...and I love it. Definitely not for everyone, this is a very good example of overextracted shoraz from Australia. Blueberries and nice oak. This is the Caymus SS of Australia but on steroids. Old world fans should never drink this style of wine because they will not understand how someone can like this style of wine. QPR modest, would love to see it in the $159 price

Dark in color, almost purple. Not too much sediment. Scents of ripe blue and black fruit. Taste of blueberry and blackberry, which was quite balanced and smooth, with a medium finish.
- Brick color with medium forming legs. It's in total harmony and has flavours of strawberry, raspberry, strawberry jam and licorice anise with a medium/full body. Juicy texture with a long finish - The nose on this wine is stunning to say the least. This wine is loaded with red ripe fruit. A beautiful finish to say the least.

Opened for 90 minutes, consumed over an hour. This is an unabashed hedonistic monster. Blueberry and blackberry initial wave, followed by loads of vanillin. Dark purple color, confected fruit, vanilla, blueberry pie on entry, coats the mouth, massively long finish. This wine doesn’t try to hide what it is, and I could see people not appreciating the style, but it is unquestionably an extraordinarily made wine. I can see it staying in this window for 7-8 years, but can’t imagine it getting better. It seems to me wines of this style are best served at peak maturity of the fruit. Definitely a cocktail wine to me, can’t imagine what food you’d pair this with. Magnificent.

Deep purple with very slight bricking. A deep nose shows obvious volatile acidity which only mildly distracts from the dark fruit, cocoa powder and slight salt-cured olive aromas. Full bodied and rich on the palate with medium acidity but tarter fruit notes that lend brightness to the entry. This is straightforward stuff and surely there are scores of wines that deliver what this offers for a fraction of the price.

Wow, where to start! Huge decadent wine! Popped and poured with no decant necessary. Beautiful deep dark purple color. Huge nose of blackberry pie and vanilla cream. The wine is super dark, ruby-purple, highly concentrated. Upon swirling, coated the glass for almost 40 seconds. There is a beautiful aroma of cherries, vanilla, and dark fruits. The wine coats the entire tongue and finishes long. Delicious flavors of blackberry pie, blueberry pie, and balanced wood components. I don't think the wine evolved much after a 6-hour decant, but that's fine, as this is special enough as is.

First, imagine Miss Bronte's Heathcliff brought to life in a bottle: a dark and brooding foundling of dubious origin, violent, overwrought, brutish, and doomed.
Indeed, here we have a wine of almost gothic ill taste.
This was served at a dinner celebrating the visit of Count Vinson's poor relations from Australia—a little joke on the nobleman's part. We were all amused to see the relish with which the visitors drank, though they said repeatedly that they should have been as happy with beer.

An absolutely stunning wine. The wine was dark purple in the glass and produced tremendous aromas of dark fruit and wood. Very dry and full of dark fruit flavors, but the smoothness is what really stands out. All four of us drinking this commented that the wine was powerful but incredibly smooth. We all loved it and it went well with NY strip steaks.

Decanted for two hours. Seriously dark inky hue. Full bodied, silky smooth (I now understand why they call it "velvet" glove). The bottle and label are exotic. Once this wine touches your tongue, you know you're in for a great experience. Probably ranks as one of the best wines I've ever drank. Albeit it is pricey, it's worth a special occasion! Nose Deep thick, black fruit, jam and creme. On the palate there is vanilla, black cherry, raspberry, and many other darker fruits. Alcohol is high so I question its ability to age. Tannins were light. This wine is so think it borders being a solid not a liquid. Strange feeling on the tongue that I've never felt before. It completely wraps around the tongue. It's so appropriately named it's not funny. If you like fruit bombs this is the king.

Vindredi (Grand Cru Wine Bar, Bellevue, WA): Huge nose and mouthful of syrupy fruit as you expect from Mollydooker. Second favorite of the Mollydookers we tasted (Carnival of Love, Enchanted Path and Velvet Glove). Nose was over the top, bur somewhat balanced with some secondary flavors. Fully and plush on the mid pallate with a smooth finish. Some complexity shown through despite the fruit and sweetness, but I would have like more spice and interest. Integration made for an easy wine to drink despite the shear size. Decanted for 3+ hours.

Hennepin Lake's Annual Tasting (Tons of Napa Cabs) (Minneapolis, MN): Wow! For a young wine this is drinking off the charts. Not decanted and the nose offers blackberry, pepper, cherry and violets. Over the night the wine evolved and became more interesting. I see this wine drinking well for a decade but is drinking well right now. Long and intense finish. A balanced wine and no heat. Should be a top ten wine for sure!

Mollydooker - An Evening With Sparky Marquis (Lincoln Park Binnys Tasting Room): This is the wine that about 1/3 of its stock was lost in a freak warehouse accident. What a devastating loss! And this would be true of any wine, but here it is quite something else. What can I say? The wine is perfect in every way. So many delicate and exotic aromas on the nose and palate that you could just keep writing and writing. Complex to the nth degree! Deep refined concentrated fruits, along with tobacco and cedar notes, and layers upon layers of subtle flavors. Even streaks of truffle. Very structured, even seamless. Incredibly young, but the tannins are still velvetized and make this wine incredibly approachable even at this toddler stage! The wine is so complex that you don't even want to taste it, and could just smell it without end! But when you do savor the taste, the palate rewards you with a finish of well over 2 minutes. It is a perfect wine and thus deserves a perfect score.

- Ruby color with medium forming legs. It's balanced and has flavours of cherry, strawberry jam, black currant, strawberry and raspberry with a medium body. Juicy texture with a medium finish - This is one of my favorite bottles of wine. It provides a mouthful to say the least. It is balanced and full of berries. The finish is fabulous.

I love this wine. You should shake the wine before you drink. Loads of fruit and a powerful mouthful of cherries. Rasberries, and blackcurrent. Wonderful balance and a great finish.

Wine Spectator's Grand Tour, Las Vegas NV 2012 (Grand Ballroom Mirage Casino, Las Vegas NV): A nice wine but in my opinion not up to the hype. Big fruit bomb and full mouth wine -- Some bitterness that belies its name

Wine Spectator's Grand Tour, Washington DC 2012 (Ronald Reagan Building): Velvet is a good description of this wine, lush and unctuous, good balance, light tannins, pure Shiraz taste

Mollydooker Horizontal 2010 (Mersch offices, Giva't Coach): Concentrated and elegant both together. Ripe, sweet fruits in the mouth. Full bodied, excellent acidity, with a good backbone of soft tannins. Excellent.

Dark in color, almost purple. Scents of ripe blue and black fruit. Taste of blueberry and blackberry, which was quite balanced and smooth, with a nice finish.
