Tried it at Pappas' Pinot Noir. Well made and appealing, but nevertheless the weakest of the Cote de Beaune offerings, and possibly the weakest of the Burgundies. It was also the only 2003 being poured.

Served with coq au vin. Bright fresh fruit. Not too complex but very nice for a village. I suspect that a few more years will give this wine a bit more complexity but drinking quite well now.

This wine is correct. But that's all. You expect more from Burgundy. Almost nothing on the nose and palate, but nothing wrong or harsh either. Just emptiness wrapped in a light body with some tannins. Would work well when cooled down to a temperature for serving white wines.

Medium ruby. Very pure nose of red fruits, flowers, spice and leather. Medium bodied and rather wound up for an 03. Has nice sweetness of fruit but the structure currently dominates. The finish is tannic and a bit dry but not at all rustic or harsh.. This needs food now. Should round out with some time in the bottle.

Trip to Burgundy; 3/20/2006-3/24/2006 (Burgundy): Tasting, brief note. Lighter style for the vintage with slightly more black fruit than typical Volnay. Moderate density, but a very firm finish that will require lots of time for a Villages.

Enjoyable village Burg, quite balanced for the vintage.
