For me, Vaudésir is usually the "not" Chablis Grand Cru-not as powerful as Valmur, not as complex as Les Preuses, and not as complete as Les Clos. So it is with this Louis Michel wine, yet it is still brilliant. Medium yellow. Musky citrus and oyster shell aromas. Medium body but a glorious, silky feel. Extraordinary balance of ripe citrus, perfect acidity, soil, and a pleasing touch of citrus zest bitterness. Mea culpa for my prejudices; this was a totally winning wine.

Tart apples, minerals, citrus, a hint of flint, and saline notes on the nose. Very well balanced with good acidity and flavors of apples, chalk, salt, and a little bit of tropical fruit on the palate. Nice finish. Lovely wine all around with everything in the right place, but maybe not quite interesting enough to make it really special. Can't complain for the price, though.

Richer, denser nose and more substance on palate than montée de tonnerre drunk alongside. Zesty lemon-lime nose. Delicious, extremely bright, foresty, mineral savour. Extremely long, slow fade is very satisfying, but finish is a bit too sweet. Nose also sweetish as warms and cloys a bit. Needs 5+ years.

Onklers Grand Cru Tasting Spring 2018; 4/20/2018-4/22/2018 (Tord): Yellow with a green shear. Yellow fruit, apple core. Developing tremendously with air, and round spice tones appear. Extremely fresh acid. Yellow fruit, freshly cut pineapple. Something tropical. Complex and balanced.

Bright yellow. Musky seaweed aromas with ripe citrus as well. Killer concentration and texture-I would never have guessed stainless steel Chablis it was that sappy. Tremendous ripe orange and yellow fruit, great "sucrosité", more finishing soil than minerality or acidity. At peak now. Shockingly good, large scaled Vaudésir, which usually comes up short amongst the Grand Crus. This only suffers a bit in not having the requisite cut, but it is bona fide Grand Cru Chablis.

Clear, medium-gold color. Aromas of freshly fallen rain, nectarine, lime zest, white pepper and spices, with good intensity. Pure, bright and rich on the palate- orange zest, lime and melon notes are popping, along with layered mineral and spice depth. Fleshy mid-palate structure, medium-plus integrated acid, silky and fine finishing structure, and a full and complex finish. Great bottle- showing very well.

After seeing the TN from mmcdds and then some back and forth with him on more issues with other bottles, I took the plunge and opened my last one. Have to say, this is pristine, which must be frustrating to hear for folks who get poxed bottles. This has peaches, stone, green apple, citrus and its pretty gentle so I'm thinking it's in a optimal place. But, no nuttiness, no dark coloring, nothing off. Putting a light chill on this now, will have remainder over dinner later and return with a final thought.....this hung right in over dinner. I'd say this is medium weight, has decent complexity remaining and given the bottle variance that exists, my advice would be to drink these now or take your chances.

Last tasted this about 1 1/2 years ago and found it to be extraordinary, now 2 out of the 3 bottles that I opened tonight were premoxed. I wish I had drunk them all last year. The 3rd bottle is ok but on the decline. I have 2 left that I think I'll be opening in the very near future. Bummer!
Vraiment superbe.

Cellarhand Icon Tasting 2016 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): slight wild ferment funkiness, more mineral and almost earthy notes over touches of peach. On the palate its juicy and fleshy with lemon and stone fruit but also touches of ripe herbs and savouriness. Hmm.

Really didn't expect this much weight and power for such a young Chablis, and for a Chablis which is completely un-oaked. A bit advanced in development but drinking terrifically. Maybe the most powerful Chablis I've ever had. Though I think '10 was a warmer year. Lots of ripe orchard fruit, peaches, pears, a bit chalky and herbal also. Quite complex and benefitted from airing out in the decanter. Palate is all lemon zest and minerals, but not tight in the least bit... Amazing length of flavour and texture on the palate, just sings with the acidity seamlessly supporting a palate of generous flavour and weight.

Initially pretty closed down but opened up after a few hours. Still didn't let out too much on the nose. Pretty traditional Chablis light fruit, minerality, medium acidity. Not bad.

My first taste of this producer and I have to say that this bottle is stunning! Bright, crisp green and stone fruit up front with tropical fruit notes following just behind. There's lots of acidity and minerality at the core along with some nori undertones. Admiral depth and concentration with a long, satisfying finish. This was drinking well tonight right after opening, but really started to sing after a couple of hours of air.

Oohhh, such a laser of acidity in this stuff. It does have some round edges of yellow and green apple, some orange but lots of lemon rind, sea/marine aromatics and great energy. My wife and I drained damn near the whole bottle over Valentine's dinner, leaving the last glass for the Somm. No rush on this wine but the acidity and fruit is just terrific in this right now.

Coravin Pull #1 - Side by side tonight with the '09 Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre. Straw and crystal clear in color. The nose on this one is much more forthcoming than the Meursault. Peaches are and white stone fruit. In the mouth this is fantastic. Beautiful balance. The fruits are bright and assertive but the acidity is right with it. The finish is long and really coating. May be another glass of this tonight...really really good. I say ready to drink now without remorse although will save one or two for aging comparison.
Finished it off on 7/9 and really great stuff here. Enjoyed with some Cowgirl Red Hawk that really brought out some green apple and pear notes in the wine. Lovely.

Clear straw color, with mildly exotic nose features orchid fruits and orange blossoms notes. Full, rich and crisp on the palate, fresh-fruit flavors follow the nose, clean and very long. "Nothing in particular stands out; instead it is the wine’s sheer pleasure that is most captivating." An impressive wine.

Tasted next to the 2008 (from 375). The 2008 seemed better out of the chute, with this 2010 seeming a little flat and fruity. With air, the 2010 starts to really get going, showing a spicy, steely, mineral character and tangerine citrus that really carries with length. And, as opposed to the 2008 and the richer, more flamboyant aromatic, this 2010 seems more marine-like, with the sea spray and saline components. The apple tones in the 2008 are more yellow, yet here in the 2010 it's pippin, crunchy green. The finish is about the same green apple, then a solid wave of tangerine and kumquat flavor, closing with lemon zest/skin. Acid, fruit, affordable. Terrific.

Almost Clear with a Light yellow tinge that catches the light. Crisp pears and green apples on the nose with a hint of celery. Flinty, steely minerality runs through the core of this wine. Strong pear notes as well. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but the quality is apparent even to me. I would guess this could easily age a decade or more.
