Bright straw yellow with pronounced golden hues. Very thick, glass coating consistency. Nose of pear, vanilla and quince. Tastes of pear, butterscotch, honeysuckle nectar and lemon melange. Mouth coating texture. Long finish. Thought this might be past its prime, but most of the oak of this wine has integrated.

Chardonnay Shootout - My #8, Group #12. Full deep yellow. Rich forward butterscotch fruit nose. Rich candied yellow fruit. Oaky but carries it off. May not have been a great bottle. 8/06

Chicago Week Geeks Taste Chardonnay (Palmito): Light gold color with a reticent nose of green apples. Palate has toasty oak and apples. A light body and crisp style. Well balanced and nicely put together, but lacking depth.

Blind Chardonnay Tasting (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Blind tasting. Very ripe tropical fruit on nose and palate. Lots and lots of oak. Pineapple, mango, vanilla, butter and butterscotch. A bit over the top for me, but the saving grace was good acidity providing energy at the finish, keeping this high octane wine from coming across as flabby.

Much better this time. To the muted nose (4 months ago) of pears, chalk, and oak there are now summer melons and flower petals clearly present, giving a much more pleasant and interesting experience. Mouth-coating palate offering layers of fruit, spice and a hint of vanilla-butter, but offset with a refreshing acidity. My faith in Hansel chards is restored.

Clear bright rich yellow. Muted nose on days one, two and three -- pears, oak and chalk. Nice, somewhat thick mouthfeel and excellent integrated finish, but not showing much acidity. Overall I was a little disappointed with this bottle as the '01 Cahill and '02 RRV blew my socks off with their layered aromas and bright flavors. Also the others seemed to 'grow' on subsequent days, this one did not. Maybe I caught it sleeping.

Perfect maturity and storage, but too oaky for my tastes. Typical big chard. Ho hum. 91 pts quality, 86 pts enjoyment and interest.

An excellent bottle; I was initially put off by the oak; drinking the second half a few days later, it was much more integrated. Delicious.
