This is beginning to enter a good drinking phase. The youthful grapiness has faded, yet it still has some bright red fruit. There is the beginning of herbal and earthy complexity, with good acidic structure. The finish has an intriguing roundness, that brings expansive flavors that are focused by a refreshing red fruit element that keeps the whole package lively.

Blind Wines @ Salil's (Vernon, CT): Very enjoyable, with plummy fruit, spice and warm stones. Bright and lively. A bit of a plastic note intruded, but this seemed to pass away with time. Interested to see how this will transform with age.

TTTG Blind (Vernon): Medium ruby/purple, youthful color. An initial vinyl aroma quickly blew off. Bright red fruit, with a bit of herbal and mineral notes. Simple, but quite enjoyable. The only wine that I managed to ID all night.

CT Tasting Group (Salil's): Served Blind – Nice mix of bright and dark red fruits on the palate, the rhone varietals coming through in spades. The palate shows clean fruit flavors with some gravel and herbal characteristics. I wish I’d spent more time with this as the expansive CdR it was paired with likely detracted from its depth a bit. Good to Very Good

Third Thursday blind tasting group at my place (Vernon, CT): Not especially complex, but very nicely balanced and a lot of fun to drink now with plenty of bright red berried fruit tinged with earth and herbs on a graceful, medium weight palate.

Youthful purple. Black cherry, grape, pomegranate, rhubarb, black licorice nibs, clean and pure, maybe even a touch of provencal herbs and cinnamon. Tense, fresh, mouthfilling resonant acidity, chalk, minerals. Reminds me of the the Coudoulet de Beaucastel from the same year. Joyous. Cru Bojo wishes it could be this delicious.

Solid rosewood color. Immediately sweet nose of milk chocolate, with undertones of braised meat and ruby red fruit. The mouthfeel is chalky, very dry and restricted, with a somewhat tart finish. This is light bodied but retains a decent depth of flavor. Perhaps a few years' maturation would allow the palate to round out a bit.

I was going to hang on to this for a while, an aged example gave much pleasure last year. However the poor quality cork made me reconsider and suggested early drinking was the better option. This has lovely primary fruit qualities. Juicy and refreshing on the palate but not simple. Hint of pepper on nose and palate. I like this. Will it age? Might have to get another and leave it, pity they didn't spend more on the cork.

Really primary right now, showing lots of pure fresh red berried fruit, and just faint hints of earth and spice. There's not much to this wine yet besides the youthful fruit flavours, but it's so easy to drink with bright acids keeping it very fresh and lively and wonderful balance. A lovely, refreshing drink even though there's a lot of time ahead here.

About the same as last time, still somewhat grapey, excellent freshness and verve, easy to drink.

Much more rustic than the 2011. Noticed it has 20% mouvedre compared to the 2011. Much wilder in profile.
