Last vintage to be designated Fairview Vineyard due to a producer in South Africa already using that name; same wine known as KW Ranch from 2010 onward.
Color: nearly opaque purple/ruby core -> fairly dense ruby rim. Rich bouquet showing roasted meat, black cherries, creosote and smoked bacon. Full bodied palate; blackberries and black cherries, meat again, road tar and a little barnyard. Large scaled for sure with good acidity but the tannins are a bit more coarse and less well integrated than Wrath's '10's. 14.6% Etoh well contained; little, if any burn. Less stellar than the '10 KW Ranch but still reasonably intense, complex and pretty damn nice.

I drank at a wine dinner...I just remember it being on the medium fleshy side and delicious! I would like to re-try it and give it the real tasty taste!

Filled with jammy dark fruits, licorice, jam, blueberry, smoke and oak, this concentrated, lush wine ends with a rich, black and blue blue fruit with vanilla filled finish. Not for the oak averse.

Dusty spicy with a dark cherry and berry. Killing it with the chuck country ribs.

Superb effort, well rounded fruit, close to the top of its drinking window.

Light on tannins. Some heat. It takes a bit of air for the SLH spice to show up.

Santa Lucia Highlands Tasting: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Country (Scott's Seafood Restaurant, Walnut Creek, California): Very dark red violet color; nice roasted plum, creosote nose; tasty, roasted plum, creosote palate; medium-plus finish
