Showin' like an '08. Denser and more structured than the 2009s. Its all in the bottle though - after four hours is really opens up and begins to show itself. However, I think I will lay the rest of my stash down for a year to two more before giving it another go.

I had the pleasure visiting this small, symphatetic winery few months back. Their 2011 Barbaresco, tasted in the winery was, superb, bigger and bolder than this. 2008 is a bit more classical and refined. Bouget is quite dark; loads of smoke, leather, moss, cedar, autumn leaves. tar. Quite etheral, with Burgundian "Sous bois" elements. Intersting and complex. Palate is round, balanced but powerfull. Restrained dark cherries, rosepetals, tar, spices. Very savory, salty, almost soy sauce like elements. Tannins are big but polished, this wine has good aging potential, although starting to show a really good balance already. Medium to long aftertaste with earthy notes, tar and spices. I was happy to see that happy that Kerin O`Keefe features this symphatetic winery in her wonderfull and authorative book, "Barolo and Barbaresco, king and queen of Italian wines".

Yum yum. Fresh, delicate yet forthright fruit, woody notes, medium bodied, nice lingering finish without any burn. Good enough to open a second one... At £13 a great deal.

There's plenty of light, fragrant fruits and some more "wooden" notes in this but also a brooding backbone which is not overbearing. I think this needs quite a bit of time in the bottle. 90 at first glance, could go higher I imagine.

Savory cedar wood notes on the nose to me. In a good way. Sandlewood. Sweet on the palate, tart on the back end, and then ends with a hint of kale on the back of the palate. Maybe just opened. Not as "sweet and flowery" as Marchesi, not as fruit driven as the Viettis, yet here it is. At $30 this is a hell of a Barbaresco. Change Kale to tobacco. Or tar.

Still top notch, fresh, med-full bodied without being cloying. Red fruits, some dust/earthiness and strong core. Decent finish. Great buy.

Some biased members of the crowd found it wanting. But for me, not at all. Wonderful stuff, very high toned fruit. Delicious and perfect at $30.

Just opened but what a perfume. Lots of weight on the palate.
