Nice bouquet of dark cherries, plum, spice, some earthy nuances. Very good balance in the mid palate, balancing acidity, soft tannins, elegant and mineral, slightly bitter at the medium end. 90-91

Excellent!! <3

For the most part, I agree with the older notes from Tanto Tinto, Phillyboy, and David White (over four years ago). This is hands-down one of my favorite Malbecs. Long-finish and long-lived. Drink or hold.

14.5 alcohol means a big wine. this was not. dark color. somewhat musty, green smell when first opened leaving thoughts of a bad bottle. this mostly blew off(after an hour) leaving you with a wine resembling cab franc. would pass on this one a second time. there is a reserve at twice the price.

A lovely, well balanced effort. Plummy Fruit and appropriate, integrated oak. Long finish, supple, smooth, fresh acidity, tender tannins and rich dark chocolate and mineral notes. The tenderness of the high altitude fruit is refreshing in its graceful restraint while retaining a masculine varietal trueness.
Paired my 14 oz filet perfectly :-) Yeah, I said 14oz, don't hate.

On the nose upon opening, very vegetal. Over time developed some spice aroma. On the palette a full bodied well balanced wine full of black fruits- blackberries and plums , mid palette spice and tannins on the finish, soft. Very pleasant to drink now and still will develop over time.

Founded in 1831, Bodega Colome is one of the oldest wineries in Argentina. It was purchased by Donald Hess in 2001 and became part of the Hess Collection. Colome's vineyards are in the highest AVA in the world at between 7445 and 10200 feet above sea level. A good malbec at a good price.

Dark violet color, aroma of blackberry, peat. On the palette moderate tannins, moderate to high acidity, some black fruit, slight bitter finish with wood and spice. Needs more time in the bottle, would hold for several years.

Dark ruby. Dark berries, plum in a spicey background with cedar, coffee and cocoa notes. Felt a bit closed but I am not sure how long the bottle was opened in the specific tasting. Nice medium body with fine mouthfeel, medium tannins and relatively high acidity. Long finish. I think it will get better after some time but its a really nice wine.

Dark ruby. Expressive nose with dark berries, plums, spices, coffee and earthy scents. Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with firm tannins, bright fruit and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste. Very enjoyable already but will improve over the next 5 years. This high altitude malbec is more about balance and elegance than power. Great qpr for what it is.

Decanted briefly. Dark, concentrated color. Typical loamy, dark fruit Malbec nose. This has a nice personality on the palate, good texture, blackberry pulp, earth, and asphalt. Thins out and gets slightly green on the finish as Malbecs tend to do, but the overall frame is impressive and it's clearly well made. Enjoyable and a fair value at $20-25.

Was this a matter of low expectations and trepidation, or was I actually wowed by this wine? I'm going with wowed! A promising dark fruit, cedary, creosote nose upon opening led to the first surprise....it wasn't at all jammy or heavy. Instead, rather sleek, defined and weightless! No heavy handed blackberry flavors like so much new world malbec. Layers of dark chocolate, expresso, raspberries and a wisp of minerality. Blind, I might guess this as Pessac. This had uncommon range of flavor and intensity for ...malbec. Still, its malbec, and I don't like malbec, right? So, I'll only give it 92pts even though it probably deserves a higher score. At $23 I'll buy another and see if I hate the next one and this was only an aberration. Paired with a hearty dish of goulash.PnP
Opened 1 hour prior to drinking. Must say that this either needed more time or just wasn't up to their usual standards. Not that it was terrible, but there typically is a little more jammy fruit from their Malbecs. This was a little tough from the beginning and was not showing as much fruit as previous vintages I have had. Overall not bad but was just expecting a little more.

“Mixed Bag of Dry Whites”-Tasting, Wine 5 (non-blind), in October 2013. Wine number five, a Torrontés, was corked, so we decided to finish the flight with this Mabec instead. It was dark purple in colour and offered an expressive nose of ripe and jammy red fruits, strawberry, raspberry, candies, some cocoa and some graphite. On the palate the wine showed ripe red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, some cocoa and some tobacco, paired with medium-level not well-integrated acidity, medium-level slightly coarse tannin and good length. Drink now and over the next three years.

Tasted at Wide World of Wines; a heavy wine that needs some more time in the bottle and will need to be decanted in advance of a steak meal. If the blend can come together it will be multidimensional; if not, it will just be weighty.

Decanted for two hours, drank with very rare roast beef; good combination. Plums, berries, vanilla, chocolate, warm spice, and a touch of mint. Rich and full without flabbiness. Smooth tannins - barely noticed with the beef; more prominent when drinking the wine on its own. Very nice.

Opaque purple. Black fruit nose. Tart, blackberry and black cherry, tobacco and crackling acidty in the finish. This is our fifth vintage of this wine and it has been amazingly consistent. The 2010 at this point might be just a step behind its predecessors. It is unlikely that more time, which it clearly needs, will completely close the gap. Nonetheless, there is a lot going on here that belies the $20 tariff. Maybe just a good buy this year not a great buy.
