Often people will describe these wines as a miniature vin jaune, since they are the same grape, and vinification is largely identical, and also many such bottlings are declassified VJ...in any case this wine almost is not miniature, full-blown intense, oxidative, radical acidity offset by deep savory notes. I don’t score wines based on price, but this would be way up there. Perfect with popovered chicken.

Tip top if you like an oxidative style. Ox'd nutty nose, saline and crisp palate with cutting acidity. A little preserved lemon on the finish. Pretty big body.

I thought this wine was fantastic. I agree with earlier comments regarding sherry like qualities, but there are some interesting honeycomb and flower notes i picked up. This wine still has 10 years of life left. The wine definitely leans toward heavy oxidation which i can appreciate, but warning for those that dont.

Very much appreciated its classicist stance next to a crazy Domaine de l'Octavin savagnin. It was gorgeous and just had this golden ratio kind of proportion to it. The wine's acidity was much better integrated than a year ago.

Drank at cold room temperature. Light yellow. In the nose, this is incredibly fine with fino sherry notes, lots of roasted nuts, a bit of toffee and tobacco as well as quite some fruit (lemons) and floral aromas (white blossoms). On the palate, it has strenght, finesse and a long finish with lemony acidity and even quite a lot of fruitiness again (sweet, ripe lemons, apples).

Great savagnin with plenty of class. Mineral nose with iodine and nutty nose. Weightless in the palate, long finish on hazelnut and spices. So delicious.

Restaurant purchase at The Spence. This was like a Fino Sherry on flavor steroids and an alcohol diet. Great with a panoply of different foods, and even better over time.

Very (dry) sherry-like on the nose. Full-bodied. Complex palate with a savoury, nuttiness but also some crunchy green apple. Really alive and palate-tingling with a long-lasting salty tang. Different and distinctive. Excellent.

Beautiful Savagnin. Very much like a Vin Jaune, with less depth and a little more freshness. I hear Puffeney's Savagnin are made with the standards that lesser producers have for Vin Jaune. It shows with this bottle. I would hold this for a long time, too.

Great Savagnin. All you expect from Arbois aged sous voile is there ! It was a great match with the Poulet au vin jaune.

Hoo boy, is there a lot going on here. Honeyed sherry, preserved lemon, and a palate to match. High acid. Just a wow. Excellent.
