Last bottle. Very nice, very aged, plum and raisin nose, round, mature mouth. Velvety and very nice, tertiary aromas. These are on the top of the hill, from excellent storage, and to been drunk up now.

Barnyard and horse on the nose when opened. Decanted carefully but still lots of fine sediment floating in the wine; apparently a problem with this and the 2000 vintage so they found it hard to sell. Didn't affect the taste of course but decided to filter anyway. Some mild licorice and earthy cherry emerged. Still has tannins and balance. Got better and better with time, peaking at 2-3 hours in glass.

- Ruby color with medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Mature and lovely. Slightly funky, dust and plum aromas. First showed signs of being past its prime, but fruit and acidity came neatly in place when paired with food (pasta with sage chicken, fresh forest mushrooms, parmeggiano cheese and truffle oil). Great match. Medium firm body, good length. I will drink my remaining bottles very soon.

Rather disjointed at this time. Lots of the traditional things you'd expect from a nearly ten year old bottle of barbaresco, serious bricking, old dusty notes on the nose, with some serious funk as well. I found the pallet to be disjointed though, lacking in the midpallet. Nice tar coming though, thick mouth feel, though the tannins we're very poorly contained by the rest of the wine. I don't have the experience to tell if this is past it's prime, or not yet come into it's own, but for me (while interesting) not exactly a pleasant drinking experience.

Aromas of wet wool. Tired and almost gone.

Tightly wound fruit, proper tar and roses. Very bitter finish, quite tannic, good acidity. Big but not heavy. Needs to breathe or wait.

Bouquet of dried fruits like prunes and figs, chocolate and liqourice. Intense and fruity in the mouth. Peaked after several hours in the glass.
