This bottle had an alluring nose of ripe red and black fruit, violets and spices. There was transparency and purity to the medium weight palate that had good acidity and fine tannins on the bitter-inflected finish. Enjoyable and at peak drinking.

Minimal peach rim. Tepid nose of red fruit and faint white flowers. Palate of red fruit, short, lacking depth. Finish is smooth. Medium/low acidity. Probably peaked. Drink now.

The poorest 2009 Burgundy that I have had in the past couple years. These should be drinking very well and they are tepid on the nose and flat on the palate. There is some floral tones that were interesting throughout. Very hit or miss with this producer...but seems mostly miss.

As expected, a few more years have done great things for this wine. It's now rounded, with an admirable purity of (red) fruit, good acidity and an underlying hint of earthiness. It has medium body and overall drinks very well for a humble Bourgogne rouge.

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -nearly semi-translucent vivid dark red, mild edge clearing -faint black fruit wet stone -med acidity manifests with tangy note on finish, med- weight and concentration straight-forward earthy raspberry and black fruit liqueur builds throughout mid-palate and persists through the rather long finish -nice acidity for the vintage, persistence is impressive for a Bougogne, drinking very well now, no hurry

Neither here nor there. Lacking the barnyard funk typical of Burgundy, and very linear and simple. Sour cherries and red fruits, but not much. Quite austere. Acidity is high. Feeling the heat on the backend. Not the most enjoyable drink.

Decanted for a couple of hours. Really closed and just showing basic sour cherry characters. The acid was almost unbearable but 24 hours later the wine looks considerably better. It's kind of bizzare that an entry level Burgundy seemingly has plenty of life in it. After much delay the wine is revealed. Since I've waited so long i was hoping for more but there's not alot to it. I'm not going to rush out and grab another bottle but it would be interesting to revisit in a bottle in a few years. Not bad for $30 aus.

Served with smoked pork and it was a great pairing. The wine is more fruit forward than some Burgundies but still has some grit and earth tones that complemented the meal nicely. Finish was a bit underwhelming. Good time to drink these.

Opened tonight with a dinner of seared duck breasts and roasted potatoes. Still pretty primary by my lights, it tasted of tart cherry fruit but rounded out a bit with air. I'll give my other bottle another couple of years to round into form.

The "Sonoma pinot" comment below is quite astute, as this pinot has a creaminess that becomes more evident with air and is unexpected given the origin. That said, I was still quite pleased with this, as it didn't do the things I dislike about Sonoma pinot (tasting like pinot-by-way-of-syrah, unwelcome sweetness, etc.). There was good fruit, some acid, and enough secondary flavors that this played quite nicely with food. Maybe a good gateway wine for more New World drinkers who want to get into Burgundy.

Strawberries, soil/dirt, cherry pit on the nose. A little overly subtle on the palate at first but, with an hour of air, the wine gained in intensity. Cherries, cherry pit, some creaminess dominate on the palate. Well balanced. Good on second day too. Quite simple but very satisfying for what it is. Reminded me somewhat of a sonoma coast pinot. Good value.

Back to this vintage for a 3rd and likely final time. Delicious as usually. For $25, its hard to beat a well sourced Bourgogne from a rock solid producer like Gaunoux. Drinks much better than its humble designation.

Better than the last bottle. Fairly forward fruit on the initial entry. All components seem better integrated than the bottle from 6 months ago. All in all, quite pleasant for the price.

color dark ruby. on the nose this shows dense red cherry fruit. swishing shows more of the same with an almost candied quality, and the only structure I notice is mild acid and faint tannin which adds a certain spiciness to the finish. no experience with this producer, so no idea the trajectory this will follow, but pretty darn good this evening.

No detailed notes. The oak on this is a bit "clunky" for lack of a better word, contributing to an overall impression of somewhat muddy. Nice fruit, but it seems overshadowed and slightly unbalanced given the oak treatment. There's no "bright note" to bring this to a more compelling result. While I'll drink it on a week night (what choice do I have with another 4-5 bottles), it is not a wine that excites me. Pleasant enough, but quite plain.

What I said in Novemeber except I'm liking this wine a smidge more still. I hope they offer more of this at Envoyer. This is the year I buy more of these sub $30 Bourgognes from the right producers in the right vintages. Paid $25, drinks like $40 plus.

Great value here. Ripe red fruits, high acidity, and noticeable tannin make this a very balanced delicious red burgundy. Little complexity, but perfect for it's appellation. The wine finishes a little rough with a hint of bitterness, but very good for the price and level.

I bought this btl with the purpose of trying this producer without making a big investment. PnP. I very much enjoyed this and found it a stellar example of the perfectly ripe fruit from '09. This was chambolle like with a bowl full of fresh ripe cherries and spice. Very pretty and at $25 a much better wine than you generally find in CA for this money. I'd buy this again.

Tasty red berries and hint of earthy notes on the nose and palate with sour cherries on the moderate finish. Hitting above it's class!
