Opened with Acker in HK. P&P, but breathed for several hours before serving.
Given the other scores here, maybe I'm being overly harsh? Or perhaps it's the style - I just don't think I ever got to grips with this wine, or maybe it needed decanting rather than slow-ox. Anyway, very concentrated and meaty, which means it either needs time (most likely time) and/or air. Probably both. Can see some potential but not a hedonistic or expressive style and will take a long time to get there.

Expressive nose displaying concentrated black fruit, blackberry, blackberry liqueur, grilled fatty steak, dark flowers, dark spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of opulent black fruit, rich and full, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish. There is not much sous bois development. This can easily improve for a couple more decades.

nose - dark fruit, date, smoky, mouth - serious dark fruited wine here. impressively rich with oak to match. rare for me to come across such an unabashed fruit bomb out of burgundy. I suppose you might call this a new world style. I'll be sure to drink my other bottle with the new world crew.

Clos Vougeot (The Center) Tasting (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Single blind in 09/10 flight. So enticing in every way. Red cherry, berry and cranberry aromas and flavors with savory spice, faint meat notes and bright textures throughout. Exceptional balance and elegance already now, with a long, lingering finish. Much like the 2010 Classique cuvee, but dialed up to 11. Great now, with upside.

Clos Vougeot - Clos Center Tasting (Chicago, IL): 10VV/10/09VV single blind. A wow nose that has a range of red and black cherry with intense, layered aromas of florals, earth and spice. Such a complete wine that gains weight and energy in the glass. Complex fruit with purity. Long. Already drinking so well, but this should continue to improve.

Medium red ruby. Sweet red fruits, dark spice, fine oak char. Big boned, some edges, tannins still strong. Primary red berries with dark oak spice, not totally integrated. Needs time.

2017 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/16/2017-10/25/2017 (New York City, NY): This deep ruby, highly perfumed Pinot offers intense aromas of rose petals, raspberries, smoke, mulling spices and earth. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and with nicely integrated alcohol, it serves up flavors in line with the nose and has excellent mid-palate density. Finishing long but with substantial tannic grip, this is one for the cellar. Give it at least another five years. Drink 2022-2035.

Musique & Vin - Dîner de Gala - Dixième Edition du Festival (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Black and red cherry with some blacker berry hints. Very dense, very long, to the extent that middle comes across as slightly hollow because so much concnetration and flavors emerge on peer full finish. Way too young to fully enjoy right now, and certainly ismatchd with cheese tonight, but this is a rockstar wine to cellar for the future, 2025-.

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Expressive nose displaying intense dark fruit, crushed blackberry, smoked meat, ink, dark flowers and mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of intense black fruits, bright acidity, nicely integrated tannins and a long dark fruit driven finish. It is perfectly enjoyable in a very youthful way with opulent black fruit but will age gracefully for a few decades. This is an extremely concentrated serious wine with opulent black fruit.

Fabulous wine just beginning to come into its own. There is a pleasant sweetness on the palate, and this just screams Burgundy Grand Cru. Another 5 years to begin peaking.

La Paulée de San Francisco - The Verticals (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Savory spice with red and black cherry aromas. More black flavors, but slightly backward while very concentrated. This has a long, dense, meaty finish that I really adore. Cellar another decade+ but this has 95 point potential.

The Verticals Tasting at La Paulée 2016 (The Fairmont, San Francisco): Light red. Mint and soil. Light weight and surprisingly supple. This is gentle, earthy, complex, and not about the fruit, which is underneath and provides a sense of balance and flesh. I loved the length and complexity here, especially right on the heels of the curious Grivot wines.

Monster nose - incredible concentration. On the palate, this is lovely, showing real harmony and vitality, sophisticated and well-balanced. Now, as you would expect, it is quite closed but with enough time it will be amazing. Ripe tannins balance the ripe fruit. Wow

First of 12, deep dark and dense, drank over approx 5 hours and this wine never really opened up. But nice concentration and depth.
