not blind Even in this young stage very drinkable and enjoyable. Fruit driven, almost no tertiary aromas. No eucalyptus, no mint notes. The next 20 years. 97

Decanted 2 hours. This wine is evolving nicely, with notes similar to my last tasting 2 yrs ago. Medium to full body with notes of black cherry, raspberry, damp earth. Tannins are soft and well integrated. Nice mouthfeel with long satisfying finish.

Opened in the bottle for a few hours. Very drinkable but surprisingly youthful. Dark fruited with some vegetal/earth notes. Old Napa style but leaning toward being full bodied.

So elegantly poised and balanced - quite old world in style. Savory, dark fruit without any discernable oak, tannins have integrated nicely, but the structure overall is impeccable; would easily slip into a top tier BDX tasting (and do well in it). There's maybe a warmth of fruit and density of color that would tip pro tasters off, but I'd be happy to bet 9 of 10 of the rest of us would call this French if we were guessing blind.

No formal note given and PNP at dinner in Naples. Brooding dark purple and inky. Lots happening on the nose with trademark eucalyptus, almost like an Herbs de Provence - rosemary and bay leaf. Lots of texture and a wide wake left in the pallet that worked together to enhance the mature and silky tannins in the finish. At 15, this wine is singing. It's the way I like my wine and will be good for years to come.

Heitz Cellars Tasting hosted by TCWC (Virtual): One hundred percent cabernet sauvignon from the famed Oakville vineyard. A four ounce sample poured off two days prior which has now been in our glasses for a little over an hour. Deep crimson red color with aromas of macerated red berries, eucalyptus, black fruit and bay leaf. Full-bodied and well-balanced, with abundant red and black fruit on the palate. This has an elegant, silky texture. Becomes more perfumed as it sits in the glass, adding subtle floral notes under the herb and eucalyptus. Lingering finish. Has more of what I am going to call a "woodsy depth" than the younger 2015 tasted alongside. Though this well-aerated sample is drinking well, I would continue to hold this wine, say 2027+. 95 pts for both Domino and I.

ruby to garnet, color to rim, med acid, color to rim. Blueberries hint of stewed black fruits, violets, full bodied, long finish. Cedar. Yields now to satiny tannins .

Decanted for a few hours and the wine was still 95% muted...very difficult to distinguish anything, so I decided to transfer it back into the bottle and try it the next day. That was a great move, because there was a tremendous improvement, but it still wasn't 100% accessible. The nose was lovely with a combination of root beer and eucalyptus aromas...and raspberries in the background. High quality & soft tannins. Medium+ finish. In the end, a very good wine but unfortunately, not offering a great QPR for this bottle of 2007. A bit puzzled by its aging potential...I'm sure it will survive another 10 years, but will it improve??

Smooth & mellow - that was the feeling on the palate. Flavors of black fruit & some light leather. Drink now or in one year. Decanted for about one hour.

Pnp at 4:00 pm on a sunny day on the terasse of the Hotel Säntis in Appenzell. This was right after opening showing beautifully. A touch modern, very smooth and elegant with a lush dark fruit and almost a bit sweet (in a good way). Well integrated tannins. So charming and juicy, I had to order a second bottle. A hedonistic, fun wine. So young, but already so good.

Elite Napa Cabs (Colin's House): There must've been something wrong with this wine. The nose was hard to get past, seriously woody. In the mouth, the wine had a nice texture, but the aroma was so over-bearing that I could not finish the wine. Scoring withheld due to possibility of a bad bottle.
Full bodied wine. Rich dark fruits, black cherry on the front palate, cedar, pipe tobacco, black tea through the mid and back palate. I did not pick up the typical eucalyptus/mint you find with Martha's, perhaps I needed to spend more time with the wine, maybe it had not been given enough air time. Nonetheless, a rich and lush wine, still early in it's development. Really nice, should drink well for another 10+ years...maybe longer...
This was the wine of the evening. Didn't get the usual minty/eucalyptus I've noticed before but this is just a baby starting maturity. Loads of boysenberry and hints of earth and stone. It was singing.
Tasted at the New York Wine Experience 2013 Blackberry fruit and cedar on the nose full blown and intense sensation on palate. Good wine already now; should come along nicely in another 5+ years and then score higher than 90

Had a bottle of this at the wonderful Cap's On The Water in St. Augustine, where their bottle prices on the menu are often less than retail store prices.
Tasted the same weekend as an '06 Caymus SS, '07 Duckhorn, '03 Groth, and '07 Tapestry. Or, as I call it, "a great weekend."
This was much more heavy on the fruit than I could have dreamed, which made for a positively wow experience since it was also full of mint, spice, and earth. Truly "old world meets new" - the best of both and the worst of neither.
One of the best wines I've ever had. Incredible now and would love to try it again in 10 and then 20 years.

Light in color, medium/full bodied, dominated by juicy, ripe, crunchy berries, tobacco, spice and earth, with time hopefully, this will put on weight and flesh out.

Huge wine but I don't think it's fair to call it "extracted," it comes by it's size honestly and naturally. Very structured and put-together, nowhere near approachable anytime while I'm still a young man.

Hugely extracted nose of red candy, Twizzlers and milk chocolate. On the palate more candy, cherry cola and chocolate but with some spice and tannin to back things up. Quite a long finish. If you enjoy an extracted style you will love this. Bonus point for Heitz pouring tastings of this free of charge.

Wine Spectator, NY Wine Experience Grand Tasting...more wines than time...shorter notes (NY City): A sentimental favorite of mine, I love the older vintages of this wine. The wines from the mid 80s can be dead ringers for left bank wine. Haven't had as much experience with more recent vintages. Wines poured by some of the Heitz family, fun to meet them.
