Very light bodied and weak nose and weak on the palate. This bottle may not have been stored properly or something. It hadn't turned but appeared to be pretty oxidized. 70

Excellent value. Very tannic and hot upon opening, but over several hours it toned down and smoothed out. Nice texture with standard Rioja flavors; very nice wine. This seems to still have a decent bit of aging potential left in it. Would definitely buy again. 87-88.

A great wine. Never fails to please. Our everyday, both-of-us-agree-upon, trader joes accessible red wine. Just as good as if not better than other more expensive rioja riserva. I agree that there is no need to purchase the gran riserva. I've had it, and its good, but the riserva is excellent on its own.

Very decent rioja for the price $9. Floavorful, medium bodied wine, had a strong nose. Decanted, and the flavors faded. This is meant to be consumed same day opened in my opinion. Very worthwhile purchase for everyday consumption and dinner.

I have to agree with jdunnuck on 2.1.2008 in all respects. A great everyday rioja, with a great price from Trader Joes. I've never tried the crianza or the gran riserva simply because the riserva is so good. The '01 is not as good at the '00 in my opinion, but still very nice for every day relaxation after work.

Had this wine over dinner with some friends. No tasting notes other than the fact that it was very good! I'll have to re taste by itself at a later time.

Nice dark red color -- almost jewel tone. Aromas of ripe blackberries, cranberries and campfire. Nice mouth feel with big flavors. Ripe berries, plum, leather, tobacco, and toasted oak. Tannins were a bit untamed and quite a bit of heat on the finish. Might calm down with a year or two in the bottle.

Color is almost brick red. The nose consists of an earthy blackberry and prunes. The palate is mixed with minerals, licorice and leather. The tannins are griping all the way to the end. The finish is lingering. Interesting to say the least and at a very good price.

Drink at Enid Lake at a cook out. This is better than the 2000 gran reserva. good tannis and well balance, medium body lots of fruit some wood on it. It is a good qpr and easy drinking spanish wine. Very good.

Typical Rioja. Dark fruit and a bit of mustiness. Smooth drinking and developed well over a few days, but nothing to write home about. Decent value.

Pale garnet color, medium body. Earth, leather and dried fruit on the nose. Silky, dry tannins. Delicious. Excellent QPR.

Great Rioja that is drinking perfectly now. Sweet fruit and cedar with some earthiness. Don't think it will last too long.

Going from memory on Christmas eve, but remember pegging this as a 90. Very well balanced rioja, dark fruit, mild oak. Outstanding.
