Shockingly tannic, even after being open a couple hours. Very nice wine, previous notes still somewhat hold, too. Cherries, tea, flowers, some earth. Nice persistent finish.

Tasted over 5 days. This bottle seemed a bit more tannic and oaky, but evolved towards brighter and fruitier over time. Quality wine but still not my preferred style, perhaps more age will improve.

Corked was soaked up pretty high and felt loose. This was sharp and biting almost like re-fermentation was taking place. That relaxed a bit with air but the wine was broken beyond enjoyment.

A very nice classically styled Barbaresco. No signs of heavy extraction or wood with that classic see through orange tinted coloring. Maybe a bit high on the alcohol side but not enough to interrupt enjoyment. Seems to have come into a nice window as it didn't take a long time to open up. Perfect amount of tannin for some nice dinner accompaniment. Nice on the lower end of wines from the region.

From memory, Dark and deep. Full-bodied for a Barbaresco, with ripe dark fruit and mild tannins. Tasty but not transparent, a nice international-style rendition.

Surprisingly fresh still! Tart cherry/raspberry aromas and flavours. Decent amount of tannin, and plenty of acid. Some leafy and smoky nuances came out after a while. This needs a long decant or a little more time to really be in top shape, I think. Although I'm not a Barbaresco expert.

Gave this a splash decant & let it sit for a little under an hour. Clear dark ruby red. The nose was dominated by menthol & tar at first, but with air, some spicy red fruit emerged. Medium bodied, this showed a slight whisper of fizz/ secondary which gratefully blew off. Tart cherry, & some allspice on the front & mid palate. Some deeper riper fruit on the back end. Well balanced with extremely high acidity. The acid is really the framework of the structure as the tannins are surprisingly soft. Quite dry on the finish.
I don't think this is imported anymore, it is quite good, although I have no idea what I paid for it. Paired w/ steak & mushrooms.

No. 246 (Decatur, GA): Rusty and transparent, looking like the traditional style and coming across on the thinner side. Reticent on the nose, faintly floral notes overtaken by wild cherry, dried earth, and rawhide, plus obvious but not overpowering dry oak notions. Fitting the initial impressions, this lacks concentration on the palate, some soft cherry fruit and cherry skin, herbal edges, low acidity, good balance, but finishing relatively simple.

Our main wine for a large Thanksgiving dinner. Consumed three consistent bottles, essentially double decanted for an hour and a half. Lovely aromatics with roses, cherry, cherry blossoms, dried herbs, orange peel. Fresh and lively on the palate with good acidic cut and caressing tannins. Drinking so well right now.90-91

Brick ruby with watery orange rim. Only a very small amount of very fine sediment. Bouquet of roses, paper mâché, oak, oilskin, some herbs. Medium minus body with fair amount of soft acidity. Tart dried cherry fruit, orange peel. Still some gentle tannins pulling on the finish. Drinking fine and food friendly. I'll probably drink most all of my case over the next two years. 89-90

This bottle drank beautifully. Seamless, beautifully structured; complete, wonderful wine. Drink or hold, but why wait? Not going to get much better than it is now.

Slightly faded red. Really nice nose, rosewater and cocoa notes. Light supple mouthfeel, moderate length. Grip and tartness still noticeable and in balance. Very nice. Excellent QPR. Drinking well now but no need to rush.

Pruney finish seems to come and go on this wine, but IAE this is drinking well right now, and while there's no rush, no reason to wait, either: pop and pour it, and it opens quite quickly; feminine as a Barbaresco should be, but it's still plenty hardy and full; the pruney notes make it seem a touch over-extracted, for my taste, but it's a fine food wine, and certainly tasty on the undrinkable/drinkable/tasty scale; not noteworthy QPR, but you can spend way, way more and get something that's way, way worse

I'm not quite in the I love it camp. Still feels like it has something behind the curtain that wants to come forward.

Delicious. Earthy, a bit of tar, some flowers, and a nice core of fruit underneath it all.

Pretty nose again with rose petals, oiled leather, bit too much oak, but what the heck is up on the palate, secondary fermentation? Ugh!
