From magnum. Nose of dried apricot, lychee, chamomile tea and a hint of new rubber. The taste has a path of added golden apple and citrus (red grapefruit and pomelo). Enjoyable pour that paired very well.

Could not have picked a better time to open this bottle. It was perfectly on form last night, with lots of stony, sweet and savory elements complementing still very present fruit. Dry but not severe, it was good to drink on its own and with food. Acidity was balanced with the palate depth and the finish was long, and quite broad, despite a mouthwatering sensation from the structure. No real worry about this heading downhill any time soon, but it's a great wine to drink right now.

Really good and more exciting than a bottle a year ago. Brass. Off-dry. Impeccable balance. Yellow fruits and a whiff of honey. Good match for butter-roasted cod and for a chicken sausage stir fry.

2001 Hirsch Gaisberg Riesling. Alte Reben, Zöbing/Kamptal, alc 13.0%, $37...intense nose of lemon curd, lanolin. a mushroom like earthiness and minerality...intense sour lemon-lime tastes with some earthiness and very bright acidity...very youthful and promising...

Light brass in color, nose of yellow fruits and a bit of petrol. Just off-dy but sense of richness. Disappointingly mundane when opened, but after an hour or two it developed much more volume, both in terms of flavor intensity and mouthfeel. I'll decant the next bottle an hour ahead.

Quite dry butmuch richness of yellow fruit, some minerals, and a little fusel. Some astringency on opening that dissipated within an hour. Big flavors and still young.

My first in a number of years, and it is fully mature, off-dry and seamless. Lacks excitement but a pleasure to drink nonetheless.

Very nice. Didn't thrill me as much as I'd hoped, but it had great acidity, nice dark color, and it was starting to show its age.

Tasting Group Dinner w/ Alan Rath - Rieslings & Thai (True Thai, Minneapolis): Stony, minerally nose. The palate shows citrus, salty tropical fruit, and lime. Packed with minerals. Nice length.

Dry, tastes like a cross between a Riesling and Chard
