The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like flint, rose and red currant. It tastes like red currant. The body is medium/full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Excellent bottle of merlot. The color is a deep dark purple with a hint of color change to brown at the edges (very subtle). The nose is a powerful bouquet of fruit that is dark but not overripe. The palate is perfectly balanced at this point. There is hardly a hint of tannin. We opened this about 30min before lunch and had some about 8hrs later and it had died. If you have it I believe now is the time to drink it. It is not likely to benefit from further time in the bottle, althought it should be fine for a couple of years. no need to decant this in my opinion. Enjoy

Very disappointed. Decent tannin structure after 1.5 hour decant, but didn't get any opulence or big fruit (per most of the reviews). Definitely drinkable, but I'm glad I only purchased 1 bottle at 50 something bones. Just purchased about a month ago - maybe purchasing older wines like this leaves me open to some risk of mishandling?

Dark color is astonishing - bold merlot. Rich finish with lots of tannins for a merlot- a merlot that drinks like a cab. Dark fruits, plum and charry come out. This is truly napa all the way and YUMMM!

Dark garnet color. Rich velvety finish with very smooth tannins. The body of this wine's complexity is managed by contrasting the the juicy dark plum and cherry fruit against the relatively high alcohol content. This is one of those classic Napa merlots you hear about. No mistaking it for a French Merlot. :-)

Robe rubis moyenne. Nez imposant de fruits rouges et cacao. En bouche, le vin est d’un fruité exemplaire sur une matière solide. Des tanins finement taillés enrobent le tout. Finale en longueur. Superbe

Second Sunday Group: 2010 California Merlot (Our house): Aromas of spice, dark fruit and chocolate. Firm sweet tannins, but nicely balanced by the abundant fruit- cherries and plum- mostly dark fruit, with chocolate and spice underneath. Finishes well, with good length. 91+ pts.

First Plumpjack for me. Nose was interesting, black tea, cedar, tar, alcohol, some fruit. Initially very sweet in the mouth, then the cedar, vanillin, and tannins kick in. Fairly long finish, if a bit drying.

Dark core with reddish purple rim; vanilla, cream, blackberry, plum, sweet; redder fruit on the palate, plum, ripe, good balance, fleshy, a little cedar; a tasty wine to share with Luda.

AGM Had this as my pairing for a Chocolate Cake wt Dewars Raspberry Sauce at a tasting event. Great choice. Cocoa finish & small traces of tannins were perfect for the dessert. Wine worked well wt food & works well alone. Guests at dinner loved it, but who doesn't love PlumpJack!!??

Very modern style for a merlot. Not for everybody. Steeped with vanilla and super-sweet fruits. We are enjoying this, but one bottle is enuf for the evening!
Very dark, round full fruits on the palette. Figs, black plums and super sweet prunes. Doesn't read sexy, but trust me, it just like a 'one night stand'. Drunk alongside Ch Nenin 1998. Error of judgement on my part. But I needed the 'instant gratification' fix. Napa is easily accessible, the Bordeaux requires a deeper mental investment. Just for the record, I enjoyed both for different reasons.

For a merlot this wine is excellent. Better than many cabs. Especially if you don’t want a heavier red.

Deep purple. Supple entry. Plums. Bramble. This is in it's window. I like merlot. Better than the average bear. 91

This one needs about 30 minutes to wake up. Then lots of dark fruit, cedar on the nose. Unidimensional on the palate. Finish unremarkable.

Lucious nose of cherry, cedar and cinnamon. Juicy appealing merlot as usual from Plumpjack. Little on the sweet side but still very good.

Very hard to find a merlot that beats Plumpjack, especially in this price range (50).
