This wine has a lot going on and seems underrated by the community. I gave it a double-decanting to eliminate the mild sediment and 24 hours of air before drinking. Medium red color with a clean appearance. Forthcoming nose of cherry and blackberries along with leather and oak. Medium bodied and well balanced. Long finish with tannin, acid, oak, and fruit in balance.

Wine was much better after it sat for 2 hours. This is actually a very soft wine given its youth. Those who gave it sub 85 simply didn't give it enough time. The wine poured deep garnet into the glass. The nose was initially very off putting - copper? Some kind of metal. I almost thought this one was done until I came back 30 minutes later to a wine that had a beautiful raspberry and almost a cherry lozenge kind of nose. The flavor was very soft on the opening - very attenuated acidity that allowed for a little fine grit earth to come through right up front. Complexity up front. The wine then settled to a lighter medium bodied raspberry and black cherry body with a finish that was still very nice and soft with a little white pepper spice. It was the perfect accompaniment to a nice spicy shrimp with pesto pasta dish. This wine, if enjoyed alone, probably would warrant closer to 86. But it is a solid 88 if it is enjoyed with food (which, isn't that what Italian wine is all about?) I bet this one can go another 4-5 years with proper cellaring.

Thin nose with a fleeting bit of fruit with a lot of coaxing, but licorice dominates. Balanced, but with uninspiring flavors. The finish doesn't do anything worth noticing. I finished the bottle for what that's worth, but this wine performs well below its price point.

Not sure why tasters are so down on this bottle - very good, highly typical if modern Chianti Classico.

Deep dark red. Lots of raspberry on the nose. Peppery easy to drink. Not a lot on the end but goes great with a peppery steak

Nice nose, but lackluster on the palate. Nothing going for it. Take a bye.

Meaty, spicy, perfect with the fennel/radicchio stuffed shells we had that night.
