Friday Night Brown Bagger (Rich & Dana's): Garnet core. Opens with a saline quality, also beef bouillon and red fruits. Austere, with drying tannins and red fruit flavors on the palate. Most of us thought this was much, much older.

We enjoyed this wine for Jim’s 39th birthday. Wow! This could have been a wine from the Medoc. The nose was classic Bordeaux with vanilla and red and black cherries with some hint of roses. The taste was complex and matched the nose. There was still plenty of tannins to keep this wine developing for a long time. Wish I had more. We all remarked how it was the same style wine as the LaLande. It is amazing what great wine is being made in California these days.

I always really like the Affinity, and this is a beautifully aged bottle, with dark fruit, cassis, earth flavors.

Definitely fully mature but drinking beautifully. Red and dark fruit, nicely balanced, some spice nuances. Very tasty with a filet.

Delicious dark berry, cassis, pencil lead and mineral flavors, very well integrated, fine tannins, great texture. Appropriately restrained.

The type of Cal Cab I like - sour cherry, depth, good finish. Aging nicely, can drink remaining bottles now or wait a few years.
