Very impressed with the balance and resilience of this wine. It did not hold up for long - only a couple hours, but really good just a few minutes after pulling the cork.

A very enjoyable drink. Unplanned wine for Xmas day that really drank well. Lovely freshness of fruit with good acidity. Complemented Christmas dinner pretty well as it wasn’t too heavy. Nice to have seen this evolve so well and still has life for a good few years yet.

After having 3 Rioja's it was cool to move to Ribera del Duero. More olive notes and muddy earth, red fruits, cured wood and a good dose of tea. Not quite the acids of the Rioja's but very balanced.

Very classic ribera crianza. Some heat. Still some noticeable tannins. But acid is there. 100% tempranillo. Could pick that out blind easy. Oak is prominent but not in a bad way. Dark fruit. Slightly plummy. Lots of sediment for a 5 year wine. Good especially for the price. Would buy again.

Very nice core of fruit. Earthiness and tannins in spades. Good length and a full mouthfeel for a tempranillo. A little inaccessible due to the tannins and bulky oak but would settle down nicely if consumed with food.

This wine could age another 4-5 years. Decant 4 hours prior. Great legs, full body on nose & palette. Oak backbone, dark red fruit, borders on a chocolate profile. Enjoyed immensely. Very full bodied wine. Does not disappoint

I'd go for the higher rating with this vintage: text book Condado de Haza. Surprisingly fresh and fruit forward. Tannins tempered, smooth but with an earthy/vegetal character of the Fernandez stable. Towards the end gunk city but from Fernandez that's what we want. Ace.

Holiday Spanish Wines 2014; 7/4/2014-7/21/2014: Violets and dark stone fruit suggests Tempranillo in one of its guises. Undertone of tinned tomatoes leads us to Ribeiro del Duero. Palm butter and coconut are hallmarks to me of Condado de Haza. Some signs of age on the visuals. Nice wine and VVG QPR.

intense nose of sweet blackberry, still a lot of acidity, but very intense and concentrated body, overripe fruit, for me too sweet in the finish, some kind of stewed fruit, where has the elegance of former vintages gone? hopefully this wine will develop....... 82- 86+?

WSET Level 3 Course - Berry Brothers & Rudd; 1/25/2014-3/22/2014 (Berry Brothers & Rudd - Basingstoke): Appearance: clear, medium intensity ruby with purple rim. Definite legs, quite viscous Nose: clean, medium intensity, developing, red fruit, toasted coconut, youthful fruity character Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium(+) tannins, medium(+) body, medium intensity, medium finish, medium(+) level of alcohol (14.5%); some red fruit(some sour red fruit) and mainly black fruit; sweet oak notes Overall: OK balance; reasonable length finish; reasonable intensity; some complexity. Conclusion: GOOD; can drink now - suitable for ageing or further ageing; premium priced (£18.95)

picked it up at 23.99 but i commonly see it closer to 30.
This full bodied tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero showcases a more fruit forward style as compared to say a big leathery Rioja at the same price point. i would decant this for atleast an hour before drinking.
on the nose, stewed dark berries, rich plums, and even a hint of blueberry. glazed honey ham. sweet tobacco
palate: ripe cherries, plums. the stewed fruits not as strong as the nose but still there. maybe a hint of menthol. the bacon or ham notes come through more day two. not much acidity but by no means flabby. fairly round juicy tannins taper off nicely to a dry finish with the sweet plums lingering.
overall this was a real treat but not the best value from Spain. a very nice middle ground between earthy tannic reserva riojas and concentrated inky reds from Toro.

A mon avis, ce vin est aussi bon que le Pesquera reserve de Fernandez, pour presque la moitié du prix. Concentration, pas trop de bois ni d'alcool, juste un très bel équilibre. Du Ribera del Duero classique, mais tellement efficace.

Very well integrated at this point (2013), esp in terms of sugars, fruit, alcohol. Some tannins remain evident, but it's drinkable without harshness. Leather, slight berries. Limited nose.

Great. Currently (Nov 2013) on offer at Sainsbury's for £14. Went exceptionally well with pot-roasted pheasant. Good tannic structure, particularly evident when the food ran out. Good fruit body. Drinking well now but has ability to age.

Dark ruby red colour. Ripe cherries, vanilla and ripe blackberries on the nose. Taste of ripe cherries, ripe red plums and dried strawberries. Hint of raspberries. Vanilla in the finish. I’ve kept it in the cellular for four years, and it’s developed beautifully, although most of the leather and spice notes are gone. The cork fell apart when I opened it, so if you have a lot of these in your cellular keep in mind that the cork quality on these wines aren’t the best, mine was good though. Beef and lamb.

A very alluring wine on the eye showing a dark core and bright violet edges. Very fragrant on the nose with blackberries, raspberries, licorice, cedar, violets, incense, menthol, spices, and a light amount of creamy vainilla. Full bodied on the palate with cool blackberries, blueberries that lead to a mid palate filled with dark chocolate, raspberries, cedar, and refreshing acidity. The moderate finish is quite fresh filled with juicy dark fruits, black pepper, black tea, creamy vainilla, and fine grained tannins. An enticing smooth textured wine with ripe fruit flavors, great acidity, and great structure.
