This is still a little cool from the cellar, and judging from my previous notes, that is probably a good thing, as the wine comes across as balanced with decent acidity.

Better on the nose than the palate, but overall not bad. Ripe cherry on the nose, bordering on overripe, but not quite getting there. A hint of Balsamico as well.
Fairly straightforward on the palate, but overall a likable wine.

Starts off tannic with nice fruit and acid - a nice balanced wine. After 2 hours it improves: gets bigger, fuller, with more fruit. No trace of oak. Definitely enjoy now if you want, but it will last longer and maybe even improve, with time in the cellar. Very nice wine, especially for $28.

Solid barolo that is drinking well with a good amount of air. Lots of black cherry fruit, tar, and long finish. However, my experience with this producer is that the wines don't age well. But, this is really good now.

Fairly unexceptional but enjoyable, medium dark berry with a sappiness that is appealing, some cocoa, mild asphalt, smooth tannin, well made. Interested to see how it ages but another solid 08.

I've been checking out some entry-level wines recently after being very impressed with the 2008 line-up at La Festa del Baolo last month in NYC.
This is translucent ruby in the glass, tending toward the darker-fruited side of the spectrum, with a nice "preciseness" to the nose.
Surprisingly accessible (albeit this is a day 2 note, still more open than I would have thought). Some heat/alcohol on the back-end, but also adequate acidity - likable enough, if not too complex. Still, no reason why this couldn't be consumed with pleasure for another decade while you're waiting for all your "big hitters" from this vintage to grow up.

Some Marc de Grazia Barolos and Brunellos: Nose: Nice and straightforward nose with tones of red cherries, herbs, spice tones, and some dark red berries. While the tones are nice, they are lacking some depth.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and some good and chewy tannins. There are good tones of dark red cherries, spices, and dark berries, but they are lacking depth.
Overall: This came off more as a very good langhe nebbiolo than a barolo. It lacked some depth and expression, though the tones were nice and balanced.

This is a very complex wine with flavors that are beautifully integrated, more than most wines. There is tannin, structure and fruit but one only notices a total taste of a very good wine. The wine is probably very young( I have not had many 08 Barolos) so I look forward to seeing how this wine develops. Will drink more.

Translucent ruby in the glass; menthol & red fruits on a primary nose.
Correct, but other than that, nothing to remark on. Without looking at my notes, I'm going to guess I liked earlier bottles better.

Light and delicate with nice flavor, tannins are refined, drank it in the Cayman Islands, drank with lobster. Will drink again.

My 2nd bottle of this this year - color is a translucent ruby, nice nose with almost like a ripe cherry liquer feel to it.
Primarily ripe/sweet red fruits on the palate, with a modest tannic kick on the back end. Drinking well for such a young wine.

35th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2008s (Rich & Dana's): Garnet color with aromas of pepper, spice, red fruit, lavender, rose petals and hints of tar. Lovely palate with flavors of tar, roses and red fruit with a long finish.
