Big notes of red raspberry and lesser bit of cranberry. At one point I thought I noticed a touch of rose petal, but couldn't find it later. A little black pepper as it gets to the end. Pretty tart finish that mellowed a lot on day 2. Didn't notice any muddiness or flab so should be good for another couple of years at least.
5/7/2023 Still needs a decant and plenty of air time to mellow the tartness, similar to my previous note.

Big C-noir that is only beginning to mellow out. Still dark cola dominated fruit, but finding balance and secondary flavors of sandalwood, earth, and spice. This wine isn't going anywhere soon so no need to rush to open.

Certainly many of the same characteristics as the prior bottle, though this was more complex and subtle. It also had a delicacy, precision and lightness that made it a much better bottle.

Early Spring Highlights (Dogwood Grove): Another W-S that seemed to really benefit from bottle age, as the bouquet and taste had a profound and lasting effect. Typically good W-S aromatics of pomegranate, raspberry cream, raspberry preserves. An opulent creaminess overlays the ripe and fruit-driven palate of round flavors of dark cherries, pomegranate, cranberry sauce. The finish shows more fruit and peppery spice.

Decanted for one hour and started from there. It's a great bottle. The nose is pretty complex with Asian spice, red fruit, and a hint of cedar. The medium body offered an elegant opening. Then, there were more and more scripts coming into the play with time. The growing body showed that this wine should have more years to expect. On the palate, well integrated sweetness and tartness reminds me raspberry, mulberry, and a bit licorice from sweet tannin. The lasting is not really long but solid enough. Nice wine clean and well-balanced. The only complain will be the alcohol level, which will be better below 14%.

Popped and poured. Drank over the next three hours. This one is at the end of it's life. Had the typical California pinout cola, dark fruit profile but came across pretty one dimensional and flabby. recommend drinking soon.

2010 WILLIAMS WELYEM FERRINGTON VINEYARD ANDERSON VALLEY PINOT NOIR- although my MO is to decant an hour or so in advance, this was popped and poured into a Riedel Vinum stem; remembering Brig`s remarks about the colour, I gave this one even more of a glance and concluded it was indeed magenta, but being a big Kansas Jayhawk hoops fan, it has to crimson [school colours = crimson and blue] as in mauvish-crimson with a shade more darkness; the nose was replete with first some minerals and rose petals and a big hit of red raspberry; soon the minerals dissipated and a spicy component entered; on the palate, a hit of cinnamon laced red cherry/ berry came in, but the red raspberry was most prevalent; this is red raspberry Nectar of the Gods; it was beautifully balanced with a medium plus body and an oh so good mouthfeel; some fresh strawberry and red cherry actually finished up the wine with welcomed length; I`m thinking back to all of the Ferrington`s I`ve had that were made by Burt; this one can hang with the best of them; as Brig stated, “Super stuff’.

Good, but what I think of as middle of the road for $50 pinot. Nothing bad, but not the great experience everyone wants from good pinot. Light, fruity, a hair on the acidic side but nothing offensive. Drink anytime.

Bigger and richer than this vineyard tends to be. Still has notes of pomegranate and cranberry rather than black cherry. Very well done. In a great spot now.

Delicious. This wine does not have nearly the same (high) acidity as other bottlings from the same producer / vintage, and it's drinking incredibly well as a result. Rich and complex on the palate with notes of blueberry, cherry and marionberry. The layers are particularly pronounced as it has quite a lengthy finish. I'm excited to see how this one continues to age.

Drank at annual boys birthday dinner. This one was after Williams Selyem Flax from same year, which was excellen. This was not as good, with a weird finish, but may have been later in the evening. But again, don't believe me here on this one.

Maybe an off bottle. Bordered between the full bodied/fruity notes below and slightly stewed and over ripe. This was a pop and pour, but over an hour the stewed quality faded in and out. Nice acidity, long finish. I generally like this bottling.

A bit closed on the nose, but picking up some cherry and rose petal notes. Medium body but seems more viscous in the glass. Tart cranberry and cherry on the palette with some cola undertones....walks right up to the edge of being candied but toes the line. Smooth finish with red fruit lingering on the palette. Enjoyable but I personally would like more earthiness and minerality. Guess I'll just have to keep tasting through my WS stash until I find one :)
Perfumed nose of rose petals, cranberry and orange, Medium body. Flavors of vanilla, cranberry, cola and clove. Good acidity, restrained fruit, soft tannins. Ready to drink now, but curious to see how it develops over the next few years. Not sure it has the stuffing.

Delicate nose of red fruit and light garrigue. Palate is all candied cherries with tangy acidity. Light style, drinking great. Window will be open for a few more years, but spot on right now.

Pop and pour and served with some light snacks. Re-corked and then tasted again the following day. Shows a nice earthy nose (some pinot funk) and spice. Good ripe fruit, some brown spice, although all in all it is a little bit flat. A good wine but not outstanding. Could use a little more acidity for some lift.

Enjoyed with friends on the back patio. Lovely wine bursting with fruit forward flavored an complexity. Really enjoyed this wine and wished I had more.
Surprised to find it at 14.2 % alc., but there was no heat and in fact, it was soft, smooth, elegant and in perfect balance; very nice spicy fresh red fruit with depth and layers; unfortunately, it was the only wine poured from this producer at this tasting; fortunately, I have a lot of their wines including this one in my cellar.

Decanted for about an hour after opening. My husband love this pinot, saying that it was bursting with cherries. Since I'm the one writing the note, I gotta say that any cherries on my palate were waay in the background. I found this wine to be rather nondescript with a muted nose of some earth. Palate was beautifully smooth but little fruit or spice that I could taste and with an unremarkable finish. Perhaps my taste buds were taking a vacation. Will try the next bottle in a year or so.
