The wine pours a deep burgundy red to plum. The tannins have subsided a bit to do prolonged aging in a temperature controlled cellar and show the wine is ready to drink and they are soft on the palate .On the nose nose, you get hints of anise, black currant, slight oak, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, the wine comes off dry, the oak and pepper notes become more pronounced and the wine coats the entire mouth with a smooth lingering finish. Yet another good offering from this winery.

Had high expectations for this wine, between its price and reviews. Perhaps it just wasn't meant to age for 9 years and was way past its prime, but I found it unbalanced, harsh, acidic (though not obviously spoiled). Drinkable, but not much more. My companion felt the same.

Syrupy and smokey. Not super complex, but still very nice. Dark fruit and overall, very subtle. Tried at 90 minutes of air and 4 hours. Better at 4 hours and believe more air can help. Not sure this improves with age, but seems that it can go a few more years at least.
Update two days later (stored on nitrogen) last glass: gave it 6-7 hours of air and it lost some energy. 4 hours of air was best overall.

Wine is dark ruby to purple. Almost opaque. Concorde grape jelly, black pepper, dark stewed fruits, berries, jam preserves. Med+ tannins, Med acidity, High alcohol, finish is med. Super hot and closed, tight. Just really think this wasnt ready to drink. Never really opened up. Palate similar to nose, dark jammy fruits, pepper.
*****Edit - approached the final 1/3 of the btl on day 3 and it was beautiful. Smooth, expressive, soft and long. Savory syrah characteristics turn more towards dark berry and vanilla notes. This ones on me, my fault..

Very solid and in a good place. Need a little air but not tonnes. good blend of old world/new world. Not as earthy or a peppery as a Northern Rhone but has those elements. Fruit is there but not a bomb. Tannins soft. Its all there and all subtle. Some acidity to keep the finish.

Decanted for 45 minutes. Blue and black fruit on the nose and palate. Finish is medium. Tannins are mild. This wine is drinking very nicely currently. You could wait a year and should be very nice.

Tasted in double-blind fashion from a bottle kindly provided by D.B., this wine retains a youthful opaque crimson robe. The aromas and flavors are likewise quite primary, with ripe blackberries, blueberries, smoke, bacon and coriander. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and with firm tannins, it has excellent mid-palate weight and shows no heat from its substantial (14.9%) alcohol. The finish is very long, albeit with some tannic grip. This will benefit from additional cellaring and should last a long time. Drink 2018-2030.

Rich, deep red fruit, some sweet oak, a mere hint of black pepper, and to our taste, lacking adequate acid. It evolved little over three nights, gassed and refrigerated in between.

Big juicy dark fruit. Reviewed after it was gone after dinner from memory. Had it with a prime sirloin and it paired perfectly. Sweet tannins integrated with a nice finish. all 4 people at dinner agree that it was a great bottle.

Another great Dehlinger Syrah that aged well. Dark fruit w some black pepper, tar, chewy tannins and a medium finish.

Firing on all cylinders with tar, herbs, spices, fruit and a nice finish. Dehlinger always outperforms…

Suave and nuanced, with hints of spice box, black cherry, violet and oak. Not a barn burner, this is a subtle and structured Syrah.
