Another Thanksgiving Pinot - and this is drinking great. Really spreads out on the palate, good acidity - just like a Burgundy, I’m convinced that Oregon Pinot demands some time in the bottle to really show its best.

Nothing like a sample of some Christmas wine first thing in the morning!
Color is a light translucent ruby in the glass. Red fruit and spice notes on the nose. Lighter-bodied on the palate, with tart red fruit (cranberry?). This is very nice.

Black berry aromas and flavors wit anise, black pepper and dried thyme. Good concentration and length. Slightly faint bitter note in finish more pronounced vs last bottle earlier this summer, but still overall very good.

Black berry aromas with black pepper and licorice aromas. Followed by similar flavors and an intriguing sweet and bitter edge. Moderate depth and weight, but overall very impressive flavor combination here, particularly in context of the vintage.

Light PN ruby color. Notes of sour cherries. Lovely clear flavor, light but elegant, penetrating and powerful, Burgundian. Very good length. Great balance of flavors and acidity. Very fine tannins. Close to three stars. I think this should live for quite a few years.
2nd bottle 9/15, consistent.

This may not be a fair indication as it is young for a PG wine. Well structured, but tight. Opened up some by the end of the meal. Fruit was not really showing well.

Memorial Day Weekend & Eyrie South Block Reserve Pinots (Willamette Valley, Oregon): Barrel Sample. Lots of red apples on the nose with some odd heady soft cheese. Red apples again on the palate, with fruit and a soft, dusty coating texture. Pretty closed. Tons of grippy tannins on the finish showing an imposing structure, though it does appear to be in balance. 87-90 points

Jim Anderson / PGC dinner - Etzel Block Vertical and Blind Tasting (New England): More concentrated. Raw beef on nose. Powder and pepper on palate. Could use still more concentration. Very sauvage.

Lovely elegant PN. Sour cherry, quite Burgundian. Tannins have softened. I like this a lot. At peak.
