Bright cherry ruby in color and very fresh tasting. Surprisingly spicy palette (almost like a Zin), which some in our group really liked although the spiciness was a bit much for me. Youthful and vibrant - it improved with air and still may improve in bottle.

Really came alive after 90 minutes in glass. Beautiful red-dark cherry color and flavor with spice, strawberry licorice and nice acid. Not much bouquet. Can’t predict what’s in store in 3 more years but looking forward.

Nose of Howell Mountain briar, raspberry, red cherry, boysenberry, black pepper and a touch of CDP barnyard, same on the palate, big body, mouth filling fruit, juicy at 7 years of age, ready to enjoy as its at its best right now, almost elegant, rich fruit, and a long flavorful finish and great aftertaste. Enjoyed over two nights, slightly better the first night which again suggests its time to drink. Note the cork in the picture shows no saturation at the seven year mark due to the 56 degree cellar storage.

See through ruby red; strawberry pie, sweet confected fruit that has mellowed a bit from time in bottle, a touch of green and leather almost an nod to Rayas in style, silky tannin, Pinot like in texture, sexy and delicious, hard not to go back for more; not typically a fan of NW Grenache but this can change your mind; still plenty of time left too.

This wine is in a fantastic place right now. Popped, poured and followed for three hours. Lazer sharp pepper spice with wild raspberry. At the same time the same and markedly different from the sweet, creamy raspberry in some Grenache. The ABV in this wine is 15.2% but I didn't even notice it. Very long finish. I love wines made from Howell Mountain fruit because they always have that spicy pepper component that makes you sit up and take notice. However, come to think of it, my Howell Mountain wines are also mostly, if not entirely, Thomas Rivers Brown wines, so that is probably a big contributor, but it's different from his Schrader and other valley floor wines. I don't know but after skipping a year or two, I got back on the wagon and ordered my entire allocation of the Outpost Grenache.
Oh. Did I forget to mention. The wine sucks. Don't buy any. Leave more for me. I feel bad for the guys up there with the fire and all, so I'll be forced to take all they have available.

This wine has the color of a Williams Selyem Pinot noir. Heavy perfume and flowers on the nose. A much lighter flavor of Grenache then I am used to. A hint of pepper on the finish. Overall pretty enjoyable, but not memorable.

A little tight, but opened up nicely. Sweet nose initially. Great, smooth, creamy flavor and aftertaste hinting of tobacco and pine nuts. Paired well with dinner of roast beef, potatoes and carrots.

It may be young but I have to say it was one of the best Grenaches we have had in years. Decanted it for an hour and enjoyed is with a wonderful fish dinner this evening. Outstanding flavor.

Beautiful aromatics on 2nd night - really delightful just to sniff. Light bodied, smooth and enjoyable. I first tasted this at 10am on a visit to Outpost and i still think this is a great wine for breakfast - okay maybe lunch!

Loads of fruit in this new world Grenache. Strawberry, raspberry, and olive dominate the nose and the mouth. There is a little pepper and spice as well. Good acidity.

Another great wine from the team. Made by TRB from Howell MOuntain fruit. This wine convinces me that it's either the winemaker or the terroir more than the grape, because there are a lot of similarities between this grenache and the Black Sears Zin we had two days ago. The principal flavor component is smooth pepper, with dark fruit ans just a hint of grenache raspberry in the background. This wine is a bit lighter in color, pouring slightly red rather than extremely dark, almost black, like the zin. If this opens up more fruit and exudes raspberry without losing the pepper, this will move into the extraordinary category.

I first drank this with lunch on the deck at Outpost. It's not quite the same on a cold winter night in Northern Virginia! That said, I really enjoyed this wine. Given its age I decanted for just over two hours before drinking. The color and density similar to Pinot Noir. The wine was light and crisp compared to my usual (big Cali Cabs and Super Tuscans). Feels more like a spring/summer red.

Based on the crowdsourced drinking window, I was worried it was too early, but this was really enjoyable. The nose hinted at berries and vanilla. It started off with blackberries and cassis, giving way to a long finish with pepper, oak, and more vanilla. Very, very nice! We tried some right out of the bottle and it was good, and only got better over two hours. We tasted this at the winery and I wasn't overly impressed; in fact, I wouldn't have bought any if my wife didn't want it. Perhaps I was overwhelmed by Cabs and Zins that day, but I'm glad my wife insisted!

Tasted at Outpost with a group of friends I brought there. This was the first wine tasted and wow what a wine. Big rich chateauneuff taste full of herbs, earth, and elegant richness, very perfumey nose, more of the same on the palate but richer, brighter, reminded me of Chateau Ausone 1998. Enjoyed for thirty minutes-terrific wine. I loved the wine.

very light like a Pinot Noir. Had that great grenache nose I like and plenty of fruit. Very balanced. No hint of the 15.2% abv A very elegant grenache

Probably held onto this one a little too long. Still good but the fruit is definitely more muted then prior bottles. Drink up
