A medium-to-full bodied Malbec. A nose of dark fruit and some spice with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, some chocolate, and spice on the finish. Mild acidity and tannin. Okay, but no real complexity or finesse. On the second night the wine became somewhat one dimensional.

Rich, thick and all around heavy hitter here! One that will keep and mature in 2-5 yrs. Last note captures experience well. Dark purple ink in glass. Nose is dark, slight oaky with vanilla/tobacco and mocca berry qualities. Palate is full bodied and rich with fruit. Not over the top "syrupy" but approaching that. Fruit is as on the nose. Acid and tannins are light and overall the experience is more of a smooth one, even before you pair with food (would suggest a little heavier/complex fare).
Is around 22$ CAN @ MLCC. Good value for this rich somewhat complex wine if that is the style you like. A good one for the winter season.

Assez fort, vanille, beurre et bois classique, fruits rouges / cassis, très agréable sur des pâtes, bon souvenir. The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Tobacco, and Chocolate. It tastes like Prune, Vanilla, Oak, and Toast. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Silky texture. The wine finishes Long.

A decent wine, good for its price, dark in color, fruit on the palate, the longer it was open the better it was, crushed berries with a touch of cloves on the palate and finish.

Dark purple color with a very aromatic nose of chocolate, liqueur, and exotic spices. The palate displays a full body with a creamy texture featuring ripe black fruits, chocolate, blueberry jam, maple syrup, and cardamom. This is very big on fruit, and while some out there don't necessarily consider that a good thing, it is redeemed by nuances of vanilla and a little oak. Finishes long and juicy. Drink now until 2018.

Weekly tasting group #068; A fully blind test. (@ AH): Deep dark purple. In the bouquet intense dark cherries and some brown spiced biscuit impressions. On the palate a lot of sweet cherry fruits. Mild acidity and tannin. A mouth filling wine. Very ok, but no real complexity or finesse. Ready now and the next 4 - 5 years.

Decanted for 1 hr. nose if red fruit, coffee, and bell pepper. Acidic and thin mouthfeel. Not the lush round fruity malbecs I am accustomed to. Would not repurchase.

Nice wine at a decent price point. Drank at Italian restaurant with pasta and seafood and was a nice compliment. Assuming this is in the $15 range retail and would certain consider more as a "house Malbec".

Paul Hobbs is 50% owner, along with Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud. Paul went to Davis with Ernesto Catena. Then onto Mondavi, Opus One, Simi, and Catena. 2011 Is 100% Luyon de Cayo. A touch of Syrah in 2011. All reds are unfined and unfiltered. Felino reds are French and American, 20% new, 9 months. Full mouthfeel, fruit first, but not exclusive. Balanced for such fullness. With just a touch of herb on the palate.

It seems that it's not so promising as others' comment on previous vintage. Grassy smell, spices, green pepper on nose. Very smooth drinking with some dark cherry taste with hints of cocoa. Not fruity. One dimensional. No improvement after decanting. Table wine quality.

Exceptionally bitter. Possibly flawed. I'll see how it does tomorrow after a bit more air.
