At first it reads as over the hill but with air it actually came alive again. Definitely on the more savory side of spectrum. Interesting without being delicious .

Medium colour, orange rather than pink; initial, pungent aroma of well-hung game blows off after decanting to reveal a complex and deep nose of flowers (rose), candied fruit (peach, strawberry) and a hint of red meat; the palate is vinous and rich, very grown-up, with an almost oily texture, pungent minerality and ripe acidity; excellent length, very persistent. A very individual style of rosé, a very serious wine, completely different from the usual, evanescent, modern style of rosé.

A private lunch (Restaurant Northcote Manor *, Langho, Blackburn, UK): Identical to my previous note. Four years old now and showing really well. A delicious and grown-up Rosé.

A private lunch (Restaurant Kasteel Heemstede *, Houten, Netherlands): Attractive medium salmon colour; subtle and complex nose, whiff of red meat, ripe orange-coloured fruit, herbs and mineral freshness; rounded attack, typical ripe and calm Cotat style, juicy freshness, ripe acidity, good flavours; complete finish, excellent length.
