Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Surprised by this. Friend purchased from winery as they seem to be liquidating their library wines. Cork came out easily with ah-so. Decanted for about an hour. Initial nose is dusty and prune but still surprisingly present with fruit. Fruit also apparent on the palate. Unfortunately we were drinking outside (thank you covid) and so cold temps may have tempered it's nose and taste. That evening may have later become a little metallic. Next day was not terribly interesting--but not bad.

  • From magnum, a library release. Once again, amazing what can happen when a wine is stored appropriately. Red-purple in the glass, just a touch of murk. Little sediment. The nose is musky, earthy, and showing dark red cherry aromas. With time in the glass, this evolved nicely, with flavors of lean black fruit, a touch of clove, and dirt. Long, nice acid, well-balanced, strong finish. Exceptional. A real nice surprise. I had expected something perhaps a bit thin and dilute -- to the contrary, this was complex and relatively youthful. Loved it.
