Quel vin! Moins tendu qu’en jeunesse mais encore frais, sur les poires mûres, expansif en bouche suivi d’une finale saline qui se resserre. Toujours impressionnée par les vins du domaine…

PNP at Nanea. Beautiful nose, showing honey, lemon and a touch of iodine. Broad expansive palate that belies the reputation of the 2011 vintage in its richness and volume. Lemon and stone fruits dominate the palate, lovely acidity and energy, with a citrus rind finish. I liked this more than the 15 Blanchots.

Initially this was a little overblown and disjointed but with time it opened to show citrus, stone fruit buttery notes and qood quality oak as well as a touch of honey...sub notes of marzipan, almond meal and apricot here as well. in the the mouth there is quite vibrant acidity, a touch of apple over citrus, those honeyed notes, a smidge of butter, apricot, marzipan, rather nice.

Dinner at Les 110 de Taillevent , London (Les 110 de Taillevent , London): Such a great experience coming across these wines overflowing with life and energy. Some decanting is advisable here too as it does help the wine open up. Richer than other 1er Crus of his, a touch riper and with well managed oak, soft honey a bit less flinty/mineral and more juicy richness but a Chablis after all and what a wine . We do indeed have a feel the 1er crus of his which are less fatty and oaky are the wines to go for. 94

From Coravin. Lemon, stone fruit, slight butter, cream, sweet spice, floral top note & a smidge of honey. Rich, honeyed, lemon and stone fruit, a little marzipan, tangy, slight alcohol warmth with a touch of burr tugging on the tongue. Very nice.

Classic Raveneau, great drinking window.. Wet slate and vanilla, quince and pear/persimmon on the nose. Steely sleek white, great with a variety of dishes from ultra ripe heirloom tomatoes to slow smoked salmon.

This tastes much richer and rounder than the last bottle. Drank with some Gorgonzola cheese and it shows a lovely briney nose with Meyer lemon oil and a bit of pine needle. The palate is perfectly on point with a mouth coating texture and a bitter lemon rind component on the finish. Really tasty.

Decanted for several hours. Nose is showing some sea brine, iodine, grapefruit rind and a little bit of the pine needle aroma that is reminiscent of 04 whites. Clean, lively palate, good acidity and citrusy flavors that finish with a bitter citrus rind character. In a great place tonight and in no danger of premox.

From Coravin. This is rather hitting the straps; rich, peachy, cream, vanilla, butter, sweetly spiced, marzipan. And equally rich and polished, again richly peachy, this is showing far better than previous tastings. Yum.

Coravin fun - Premox hunt and red ring ins (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Honey and butter, fruit present but muted beneath this showing lemon, orange, kumquat a well as some slightly dusty sweet spice. With time the oak begins to show a little more. On the palate a little green apple joins the citrus fruit which is now more forward than the honey and butter. It's a little shorter than I would have expected dropping away in intensity quite quickly. My expectations are not met but this is perfectly pleasant.

The big Raveneau tasting (Kjell Tores Mat - Oslo): Is the 2011 still green? Unfortunately yes. At least in the beginning. But it is more complex and the fruit is more precise than the previous two elevens. Touch of smokiness, crushed graphite and seaside minerals.

Post Nationals Treats (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Ooh, aromas of ripe waxy lemons, ripe apple - that is very slightly bruised, backed by cream, butter and muted spice. More spicy, zesty but also savoury on the palate which is a little linear but very long indeed. Cripes this is pleasant.

A quick impression, It lacks the precision and energy. It also shows the 04 like taint, ie LBT. YMMV. Despite the glowing reviews by the critics, I recommend skipping the 11 Chablis. Love the 14s though.

Rockstars of Burgundy: Grapefruit, spice, pear - quite open on the nose with some richness to it. Clean and bright palate, shows the relationship to the butteaux with that mineral element but with a little more fruit power. Kept coming back to this wine over the others.

Tasting of 3 wines from the 2011 vintage: Dauvissat Vaillons, Raveneau Mont Mains and Raveneau Montee de Tonnerre. Softest nose of the 3, more tropical and floral than the MdeT. Very delicate and alluring. More diffuse palate, softer mouthfeel without the dry extract and minerals of the MdeT. Does not have the acidity of the others. Medium finish.

Has that young Raveneau sense of salt, sea brine, green tea, and utter richness. Actually, richer with more bacon fat and pork than I remember. Palate, of course, has incredible cut and definition. Liking this more than any other young Raveneau that I have ever had. Why?

Creamy and round. Lacked the crispness and acidity I usually hope for with these wines, but still quite good.

Lovely deep nose, showing lemon, iodine, beeswax and honey. Rich deep palate, bitter lemon rind flavor and balanced by refreshing acidity.
