Olga going away party (Jerar): Served from a magnum bottle The wine needs time open up, citrus, fresh, citrus peel, with time and air in the glass, the wine gains in depth. Palate showing immense depth, highly mineral, fresh citrus, lemon peel, grapefruit, quince, full body Mineral, tight, austere, high acidity, long finish, nowhere near its peak, this is a top form !

Bright, gorgeously balanced palate. Mineral acidity with citrus, floral notes and apple. Exceeded expectations as a match for rich tartiflette and salad.

beautiful aged Sancerre - pear, citrus, flowers and honey, medium body and soft. No age apparent in the color, but the tone is mature - no gooseberries, cat pee or edge of young Sancerre. Great wine and not fading, but fully ready

Comparé à ce sancerre de François Cotat, celui-ci possède un peu moins de fruit mais un peu plus d'amplitude. De belles saveurs franches sur ce vin très long en bouche. A point. 92-93 sur 100.

Vin blanc à point. Couleur dorée. En bouche, c'est le festival tropical avec une belle minéralité pour tenir le tout. Très très beau. Un coup de coeur. 94 sur 100.

Gooseberry and nettle aromas with a creamy, round textured wine of ripe pear, grapefruit, lemon and lime cordial and some zippy vegetal notes. Complex and elegant.

Energetic on the palate, with good persistence and acidity - really drinking well today, but it's possible this might even get better with more time in the bottle.
While I tend to focus my purchasing on Boulay's Mont Damnes, every time I try a La Cote', I wonder why I don't buy this more frequently.

At least according to CT, my first bottle in 2 1/2 years.
Light yellow in the glass; the nose has a sea breeze scent along with some Sancerre grassiness.
Delicious - that's the first word that popped into my head as I had that first taste. Great persistence, prominent acidity, some tart Granny Smith apple - really wakes your palate up and demands that you pay attention. Unfortunately, this might be my last bottle, because off the way this is showing today, I could see it drinking well for another decade.

Herbaceous and grassy at first but then the nose becomes sweeter, with prunus blossom, vanilla, touch green pineapple, lemon zest underripe honeydew and peach, lime pith and a little bitternes. Nice

Notes made on second day open. Light yellow straw color, bright and clear reflection. Medium-big nose of citrus blooms, quince, pink peppermint, and sea spray. Medium-light body with a big charge of nice acidic energy on the tongue. The slightest bit of an oxidation note creeps in on the finish and I wish I had more to try a year or two down the road. 5+11+18+8 = 92

Somewhat disappointing given its $40+ price tag. Light golden color with a slight green tinge. Faint aromas of salty minerality, some citrus and tropical fruit. Rounded mouthfeel with similar tropical fruit notes of kiwi, mango, and some pineapple; but not much tart citrus given the rather lower than expected acidity. Medium finish. I have had similar experience with other 2011 Sancerre's, but I was hoping for more from this well known and reliable producer. Clearly this was at best a very average vintage. This is good, but not what I expected for the price.

Je ne suis pas habituée à des Sauvignons complexes comme celui-ci. Plus de fruits jaunes (et une touche d'exotisme) que les agrumes habituels de beaucoup d'autres vins du même cépage. La minéralité est bien intégrée. J'aime beaucoup.

Notes from the last 1/3 of a bottle opened 2 days ago and I thought it was most enjoyable at the end. Very light straw/ gold colo. Wonderful, mineral-driven palate with a subtle core of ripe citrus, kiwi, and guava. Feels like it will explode with nuance and complexity with enough cellar time. Aroma is somewhat dilute, but that takes nothing away from the enjoyment. Very good producer/outstanding wine. 5+11+18+8 = 92

A day 2 glass from a bottle opened at dinner last night - light yellow in the glass, with ripe fruits, a touch of citricity and some brininess as well on the nose.
Crisp and dry on the palate, lengthy finish - very nice right now; no real experience into how these wines age, but I would be tempted to put a couple down just to see how they develop.

Elegant, understated sauvignon blanc variety aromas. Salty-mineral and pure, only slightly yeasty. Transparent on the palate, with fine-tuned acidity, slight spiciness and lots of saltiness (some fennel & aniseed notes) but no bitterness at all. Outstanding, ripe sancerre - a reminder of what's possible in this (often underperforming) appellation. Should develop well for a couple of years.

enjoyable, crowd-pleasing style. Softer and a little rounder than more standard sancerre. It has all the usual SB elements, but is more elegant. A refined wine that will please a wide range of tastes.

I've had this a couple times since my first note back in February - still bright acidity, but the wine has come around a bit in the intervening months, and there's an intriguing lime nuance now on the finish.
I may need to re-load on this at some point, as it also seems like a wine that has a lot of development ahead of it, even though it's nice already.

Yellow-white in the glass; a saline scent on the nose, almost chablis-like.
Vibrant acidity and white fruits on the palate; while Boulay made a very accessible line-up of Sancerre in 2011, this may be the bottling most in need of additional time. Right now I prefer both the Mont Damnes and Comtesse.

Tart and focused on the palate, with good acidity and a lengthy finish. Very good, and still very lively at age 7.
