upps with Daniel and E&M (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Popped and poured. Quite red fruited but with a little black currant here as well as it opened, plenty of tertiary leathery notes, earth, Autumn leaves. In the mouth it is very slightly dilute but fresh and charming, again red over black fruit but by no means sour, a touch of tannic burr. Nice enough but a good time to drink.

From Coravin. Brambles, red currants, a little red berry note, dusty sweet spice, leather, touch of Autumn leaves, mushroom and bonfire, with time a little fennel note. Medium plus intensity acidity, flavour profile is similar to the nose and joined by a little fruit tea, tannins are talc textured and drying, all travel long. Pleasant

One of a 3 vintage vertical from a friend's cellar. Perfect looking cork, still dry on most of it's length. The last 1/4" broke off while removing, but came out easily. Nice nose of cedar/sandalwood/coffee. Red fruited with earthy leathery notes, medium tannins, good acidity, and a subtle but long finish. Was accessible right away and only evolved slightly over several hours.
From Coravin. Cedar, slight pyrazine, brambles, sweet spice, leather, a little red currant and farmyard, earthy with slightly gamey notes, touches of almost raisined fruit. Medium plus intensity acidity, tightly textured, slightly grainy tannins and brambly, leathery, slightly herbaceous flavours. Long. In very good nick and very nice.

High fill, the cork was intact. Medium garnet colour. Dark fruit, plum, sweet tobacco, leather, pencil shaving, exotic spices, cinnamon and mild balsamic notes, with lively acidity, fully resolved tannin and good length. Average concentration and complexity, but smoothly textured and perfectly balanced. Zen-like. A textbook, truly beautiful Bordeaux! Fully mature, drink now.
Upon opening, the sharp, 'developed' character was very strong and overpowering in the bouquet, but over time it blew off. Still there later, but married with some lead pencil and sweeter notes. Somewhat dilute in the mouth, but with a pleasant, mellow sweetness that's very attractive. Tannins well and truly resolved. Hanging in there but I wouldn't wait around too much longer.

Faded ruby to the eye. Very weak nose - surprised at the comments from 2014 below. However the palate was alive, cherry fruit vanilla. Good balance and medium length finish. Would have scored higher if nose was present. Overall very pleasant, just not a classic Bordeaux style nose.

drunk this bottle recently purchased by auction over at least two days, very earthy nose, mushrooms, still some present tannin, cassis, but outperformed by forest soil, roasty spices, slightly mineralic, spicy, after one day a very fine and balanced structure, now on the way to or on its peak, depending on the bottle, I am favoured by fortune getting a very well stored bottle with a top shoulder, amazing bottle, ***- ****, 89- 91

Classic Chasse nose - more spicy and complex as time goes on. Still a vibrant structure - good acidity and even some traces of tannins. Alive and kicking - and very good. Will be cruising for some years.

A bit musty and barnyard in the bouquet. The wine is completely mature. All the tannin has softened. The taste is pleasant tertiary and still full bodied. Although the wine will not gain anymore I guess it will stay on this level for some time.

Excellent food wine. No fading at all and still an excellent garnet colour right through to the core. Subdued nose, soft red fruits, a bit of earth and almost a hint of gravel - almost Graves like. To taste after 2 hours in the decanter, fleshed out a little but this is always going to be a lean and tannic wine though there is plenty of fruit here to make it interesting. This is at the vigorous end of its plateau of maturity and is drinking really well now. Based on experince of many other bottles of Chasse Spleen back to the 59 vintage I'd say this had a good decade plus of life ahead of it yet. Graves-like flavour, a dry herby claret but with a good background of fruit - an excellent accompaniment to roast lamb followed by some mild English cheeses but probably not a wine to be enjoyed on its own.

An easy afternoon with close friends (@ PdV): Garnet. Butter and oak in the bouquet. Juicy, a lot of cassis and red currants and also bitterness. Creamy taste, but the acidity is getting too profound. The tannin is quite dry in the finish. The wine is giving a thin impression. This wine has been better, but is still enjoyable. Drink asap.

Very dark red-black, no brown rim Strong well developed powerful nose, scent it from 1 meter of the glas Strong, soft tannines, black current, long after taste. Very lifely, years ahead

Not belonging to the absolutely greatest wines, but coming very close. This is very nice drinking for a very nice price. And that is why Chasse Spleen belongs to my favourites.

Härligt integrerat med allt på plats, mjuka tanniner, slankt och elegant. Multna löv och läder, otroligt vital för sin ålder.

My #2, Group's #1 (41 pts) Tasted blind and correctly guessed as Bordeaux.
